OSU Basketball
I'm sure most of you know the situation at OSU with their basketball program being investigated and one of the assistants being arrested for funnelling money. Its a sad thing, even if I dislike that schools program, which has a history of these kinds of problems. (Google Pat jones and Dexter Manley if you will.)
OSU basketball has been amazingly messed up lately. Just two years ago the head coach was Travis Ford who was an embarrassment on his own. Not just with mediocrity on the floor, but some of his antics off it - like when he came onto the floor of his sons basketball game to confront a referee. Attendance was a disaster and most folks there just gave up.
After he was let go, they hired Brad Underwood who coached one year and was gone to illinois. Obviously there was something wrong in Stillwater. So now new coach Mike Boynton is obviously under fire and under pressure and in my estimation will be let go soon as well.
So OSU basketball is a dumpster fire and I think will have to have major changes. But here is a prediction on my part and even a temporary solution for them:
#1. Interview OSU alum Scott Sutton, even if its just a courtesy. He is no longer the ORU coach, but would help give the program some cover since his job was at a religious school that has a clean history. If he IS hired, do it on an interim short term basis.
#2. After that, go to OSU alum Bill Self and use him as a reference to hire some other coach who can do the job, yet keep it clean. Maybe someone on his staff looking for a head job.
There is going to be some heads roll and with Louisville firing both Rick Pitino and the AD as well, this may be just the beginning. As an AAC follower, I just hope it doesn't reach SMU, but it very possibly could since Larry Brown is still lurking in the shadows down there.

RE: OSU Basketball
Now I heard that ex-OSU coach Brad Underwood is being investigated at Illinois. If the hammer comes down on him, I think its a certainty that the coach he hired at OSU, Mike Boynton, will be fired immediately and probably the entire OSU staff. Smoke - Fire.
I still believe that OSU is going to have to hire a pristinely clean coach regardless of their winning record to get out of this mess - if they even can. Its no longer about winning, but about the survival of their program. TBH I really don't care about their program, but would hate to see this spread too far and investigators hanging around every nearby school.
