Sure you do. The investigations started in 2015. They are going to be nailing a bunch of programs. They aren't going to go back 9 years.

Agreed

When it was happening Parrish said Buzz wanted complete control and that was the reason he wasn't hired.

I like Buzz and he’s very characteristic. Gets his guys pumped up, but as I said several months ago, he’s not exactly tearing it up at VT.

He went S16, S16, E8 with two regular season Big East conference championships his last three years at Marquette.

During his three years at VT he's significantly improved every year:

2014–15
Virginia Tech 11–22 2–16 (15th in ACC)

2015–16
Virginia Tech 20–15 10–8 (T–7th in ACC) NIT Second Round

2016–17
Virginia Tech 22–11 10–8 (T–7th in ACC) NCAA First Round

What Buzz did at Marquette was awesome. He’s yet to do it at VT. He hasn’t done poorly but like I said, he isn’t tearing it up either. Let’s see what Tubby does over the next two seasons.

Are you kidding? Virginia Tech made the tournament 3 years out of the last 30 before he got there, their one and only trip to the 2nd weekend of the tournament was an Elite 8, 50 years ago. Their last winning season before he got there was 2011; and he got them to the NIT his second season and the tournament his 3rd season.

He also has 8 NCAA wins since 2009, Tubby has 1 since 2008. By any measure known to man he has "torn it up" wherever he has been and has torn it up 10X more than Tubby has during the same time period.

He loses his top 2 scorers but brings back his next 5 and the #17 class which includes the #36 and #69 prospects in the country, and his top 3 returning scorers are juniors.

Somehow an Auburn NCAA violations thread turns into a Tubby/Buzz debate.

I started it by asking about the reason Memphis steered away from Buzz during the Tubby hire. Sorry about that.

What is everyone's thoughts on conference expansion and what is acceptable during the national anthem?

No problem.

Funny questions. BTW, expansion ain't happening, and ok to kneel before, but should stand for anthem.

Bruce hasn't been winning at Auburn, but he's had all these great recruiting classes. So his fans were saying - there's hope! This is the year!

Turns out there was a really good reason they were getting those classes the past few years. And we all knew it. I just wish the AC that they caught there had been his son Stevie. Instead, he used the Auburn legend as the bag man.

proud to say I've never wanted Bruce Pearl anywhere near Memphis hoops...I do wish we had sealed the deal with Scott Drew to follow Cal...I think he would have killed it here.

Yep, I wasn't on the sweat hog train either. I was OK with Forbes, really wanted Mike White but he was gone before the search began. But I'm OK with Tubby too. And I was on board to support whoever was hired (you have to trust the admin, they get paid to make these choices). But he or anyone else will need 3-5 years to judge his efforts.

It's possible that a historically-squeaky-clean guy like Tubby could become a hot commodity. Sounds like there will be multiple schools looking to forge a new identity for their basketball program.

I am thinking hire Cal as the AD, Pitino as head men's basketball coach and then the Sweet Hog as the assistant head coach...

Josh and Tubby have killed it. Like, as in, dead and buried.

Nah, Pearl's more comic relief than anything.

Think about what you just wrote. Trust the administration?

Look how they handled football for YEARS. Look how long they left Opie at the helm.

Would this apply to Louisville fans? How about Penn State fans during the 'Sandusky' years?

Trust no one. Question everything.

This really isn't that far-fetched. ADs won't want to gamble with cheating, given the current landscape. Honestly, I believe that was our rationale for hiring Tubby last year. Tubby is the ultimate "big name, safe bet" hire. There might be some looking. That being said, I don't see Tubby taking another job. I believe the Memphis job will be his last.
