Maybe it is an optical illusion, but it looks as if there is a black stripe on the helmet.

Could they at least worked in the red jersey or red helmet for a ring of red game? We could have easily just done a blackout against Marshall. Maybe UC should stop with the Ring of Red, Blackout, Whiteout, and Stripe the Stands if the team isn't going wear an uniform that actually represents what they want fans to wear.

Love it! All black, all the time at home this year. I guess they weren't kidding when they announced this months ago...

Though I would have thought and preferred they'd have made an exception for the Ring of Red game. Black helmet, red jersey, black pants is our second best combo IMO (second only to all black), I was hoping that combo would make an appearance. Now why advertise a game as "Ring of Red" if you're going with all black? Sounds like a "Black Out" game to me...

Anyone think that UofL's uniforms this weekend will be orange jumpsuits with numbers across the chest and a large letter "P" on the back?

What is dumb is not matching the uniform color to the crowd theme. UC had a whiteout last year where visiting team was wearing white. Either go all in and let the team wear red for a ring of red game or just forget about it and let the fans show up in both UC colors while the team wears black at home every game.

This. Why advertise this game as "Ring of Red" when they're going with all black? Wouldn't calling this a "blackout" make more sense? We had one of those before... We were told to "bring our glow sticks" in (I think) 2012.

I like the idea of all black during the ring of red game.

Why does the crowd have to match the team? Are UC fans going to look up and be confused about who their fans support because they are wearing black while the fans where red? Maybe they'll think they are rooting for the team in Green. The ring of red can look awesome and the players can be in the great looking all blacks as well. People always look for something to get upset about.

1) fan engagement
2) merchandising (Mel Brooks/Spaceballs voice)

Has nothing to do with the uniforms the players are wearing.

Bingo, btw. That's why we have that cartoony Bearcat face. They slapped it on a hat and now my nephew wants one. People need red gear for a ring of red. People buy red gear, UC makes money, our revenue numbers look better, we look more profitable. Rinse and repeat for white outs and such.

A full crowd all wearing the same color just looks cool too, which is why I'll never get the people who insist on being defiant. How cool is Morgantowns striped Yellow and Blue stands? Penn States all white? Just buy a new jacket or t shirt or hat and support the school. Not everything is an attack on the brand or people's personal fandoms.
