Has the trump administration been derelict in properly responding to this growing disaster?

It's hard to know since trump seems more consumed with the NFL and congress is consumed with attempt number 1,584,568 to repeal and replace the ACA.

Go...

Work is being done for Puerto Rico. Ships loaded with fuel, generators, cleanup supplies, food, water, etc.

Regardless of Trump's not tweeting about it... work is being done.

Probably a bit when in exact comparison to TX and FL, but that probably has a to do with the logistics and island status vs continental USA.

Ding ding ding!

And it's not just a matter of "sending ships loaded with supplies". Those logistics become extremely compounded when you're looking at a situation where port conditions are impacted as a result of the storm as well...

Too many critics, not enough thinkers.

Every one is clearly aware that getting help to an island is way more complex than a contiguous state. That's not the point.

Also, the problems in PR are way more severe than they were in either Florida or Texas due to the quality of the infrastructure by comparison. Additionally, PR got nearly as much rain as Houston did, but in a much shorter time frame. There are way bigger issues with potable water and issues with lack of power and lack of access to money. It wasn't until yesterday when a few ATM's started to come back on line.

It could be just appearances, but they seem to paint this administration as not concerned enough about this disaster. And like it or not, appearances alone can drive the narrative and cause severe harm to the administration. And it doesn't help when the president's first words about the disaster in days seem to tell them it was all their fault because they are in debt!

Quote:Some 700 Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema) staff are on the island, and a total of 10,000 federal workers, carrying out search and rescue missions and supplying basic food and water.

But at the same time Trump himself has spent the past five days mired in his self-made battle with African-American sports stars while seemingly oblivious to the plight of millions of Hispanic Americans in peril in a natural disaster zone.

The Trump administration has also refused to waive federal restrictions on foreign ships carrying life-saving supplies to Puerto Rico – a concession it readily made for Texas and Florida in the cases of hurricanes Harvey and Irma respectively.

In the last of his three tweets, Trump said that “food, water and medical are top priorities – and doing well”. But that may not tally with experiences on the ground where the governor, Ricardo Rosselló, has warned that Puerto Rico is on the brink of a “humanitarian crisis”.

In the hard-to-reach interior of the country, thousands of people are struggling with destroyed houses, a heat wave, and rapidly depleting supplies of clean water and food.
Trump finally responds to Puerto Rico crisis, saying island has 'massive debt'

Hopefully we're actually doing all we can...and it just appears that we aren't.

RE: Puerto Rico
Why is it when a disaster strikes anywhere else in the world the US responds with millions and millions in aide to help these areas... but when the US is hit why does no one else pitch in to help us?

Kinda makes you think...

All you have to do is check FEMA's website and twitter feed, but hey might as well toss in left wing talking points. Are incapable of doing your own research. WEAK

Expecting a lefty to think and have an independent thought on his own...

They're all about the feels. Thinking and using logic is just so insensitive. They prefer to make brash judgments and assumptions that give them more feels to complain about.
