Quote from only Steeler that stood for the Anthem
“I will be the first one to hold hands with Colin Kaepernick and do something about the way minorities are being treated in the United States, the injustice that is happening with police brutality, the justice system, inequalities in pay. You can’t do it by looking away from the people that are trying to protect our freedom and our country.”

I totally agree with him.

I totally agree with him.

I disagree with that part. Since 65' almost all immigration to the USA has been from Black, Brown and Asian countries. Most people get along well and the USA is probably one of the lease racist countries. No other country has incorporated all of these different ethnic groups in the large numbers like the USA. There is no widespread police brutality targeting minorities/blacks. The last thing a Cop wants to do is shoot someone. He/she could lose their job/pension/get arrested etc. There are always some bad apples.

There are plenty of places where whites are a minority, like El Paso.

Kap is no longer in the NFL. PR is trying to connect the two.

And,

“I don’t know if the most effective way is to sit down during the national anthem with a country that’s providing you freedom, providing you $16 million a year…when there are black minorities that are dying in Iraq and Afghanistan for less than $20,000 a year.

Yes and I respect his right to do that. Unlike those who complain about those who have the right to kneel.

I totally agree with him.

I'm curious about the narrative:

Quote:the way minorities are being treated in the United States, the injustice that is happening with police brutality, the justice system, inequalities in pay.

How are minorities being treated in the U.S.?

What are the facts behind police brutality cases?

What about the justice system?

What about inequalities in pay?

Quote:How are minorities being treated in the U.S.?

Considering American history, and the realities of being a minority in other countries, quite well all things considered.

Quote:What are the facts behind police brutality cases?

There are instances of police shooting or hurting minorities. There are instances of police shooting or hurting non-minorities.

Quote:What about the justice system?

Seems to be doing all right. Probably have a few judges laying down too much law for little things, and other judges letting miscreants off to commit other crimes

Quote:What about inequalities in pay?

Honest controlled statistical analysis shows men and women make almost exactly the same pay.

RE: Quote from only Steeler that stood for the Anthem
Ironically *(as there's two parts to this story now)*... even breitbart missed part of the quotation, (I'll have to find the link).. where he basically said he would always stand for the anthem and the the US flag over any protests..

But now: I think Villanueva is getting in trouble with his coaching staff, because he's kind of reversing track..

Quote:He said he had intended to stand at the end of the tunnel where no one would see him, and watch from there as the anthem was played. But once he realized he was visibly outside, he decided he could not turn around and go back to where his teammates were standing, a few feet inside the tunnel.

“Do you walk out of the national anthem and join your teammates?” Villanueva said. “That would have looked extremely bad.”

He added: “I never planned to boycott the plan that the Steelers came up with. I just thought that there could be some middle ground where I could stay in the tunnel, nobody would see me.”

Quote:A major regret for Villanueva was the fact that his actions made his teammates and his coach look bad as they scrambled to explain why he was the only player visible.

“Unfortunately, I threw them under the bus unintentionally,” he said. “Every single time I see that picture of me standing by myself, I feel embarrassed.”

It looks like he's turning himself from a hero in the eyes of many NFL fans to a pariah under the threat of the Steelers....

Yes, they were slaves before, so they better be happy they're not slaves today! Riveting analysis on the situation.

Another quote from Alejandro: "People that are taking a knee are not saying anything negative about the military, they're not saying anything negative about the flag, they're just trying to protest that there are some injustices in America."
