Kind of amazing that we can set the school record for total passing yards and still lose by three touchdowns.

Did some old coach once say that you win football games with defense? ECU, for example, put up 3i yesterday and lost by 30. Should win 90% of the time with 30 or more points? We are in an offense happy era, starting with the NFL?

RE: Official Game Thread: Furman
I couldn’t make it this week, but I watched the game on ESPN3. I also spoke with a few of the folks that attended the game. From a broadcast standpoint:
• Pass of the day: Hendrik’s second TD to Lowe. Lowe had a great game – hats off to him! Lowe’s first TD looked terrific but his second catch was perfectly placed, so you have to go with that one.
• Catch of the Game: Spagnoletti’s 17 yarder over the middle. Terrible pass behind the receiver and in the dirt. At first I didn’t think it was a catch, but after watching it and rewinding/stopping it several times, he got his hands under it and made a great adjustment and catch!
• YAC of Day: Wike showing off some speed and determination on the 78 yard TD! Talk about a check down.
• Run of the Day: Nope!

With no running game to speak of, the Bucs need to find a way to get Lowe, Powell, Kelly, Wike and Spagnaletti on the field at the same time/more. These 5 players seem to be down filed and consistent - play makers you can count on. They are not picking up the short quick stuff or junk yards at the end of a game. With the play of the OL, perhaps these guys can play O-Line….(joke). Can’t expect big things without QB protection or a running game.

Defensively, well in the words of Donnie Brasco, “forget about it.” It’s obvious other teams are studying the film. They are attacking the short CBs, #1 in particular. The middle of the field was so wide open at times you never saw a DB/LB in the frame. Height and press ability at the CB position is not present. It looked like the Bucs tried a couple new players in the secondary, but their inexperience showed time and time again. As far as run D goes… Donnie Brasco. Everyone is talking about the OL and DBs, but take a look at the opposing team’s rushing offense – unreal.

I hope some of the DBs and DL are redshirted, if not, the Bucs need to recruit them along with RBs and OL.

Need to get some FBS transfers in the secondary.
