Memphis FB - Ranking (AP/Coaches) next week?
So, where do we fall?
AP:
#20: Florida 28-27 UK
#21: USF 43-7 Temple
#22: SD State 28-24 AFA
#23: Utah 30-24 Zona
#24: Oregon LOSES 37-35 ASU
#25: LSU 35-26 Cuse
--- others receiving votes -----
#26 W: WVU 56-34 Kansas
#27 L : Colorado
#28 L: Maryland
#29 L: Vandy
#30 W: ND
#31 W: MEMPHIS
#32 L: Cal
#33 ?: Stanford (up 17 in 4th over UCLA, devaluing our win :( )
#34 L: UK
#35 W: Duke
#36 (Idle): KState
--- Notables ---
#NR: NCState 3-1 over FSU
#NR: UCF 38-10 Maryland
----
So, pass Oregon, Colorado, Maryland, Vandy?
up 4 to 27
----
Coaches, same logic... @ #31 now.
Pass Oregon, Vandy, Colorado, Maryland, up to 27... ND passes us from behind to make it #28?
>>>
AP #27, Coaches #28?

Don't forget the 17th team lost and FSU dropped to 0-2.
If we fall in the polls, then the polls are absolutely a joke and should be abolished. Even one of the ESPN guys was saying the other day that they wish the computer polls would come back because they seemed to have reasoning behind them.

The polls are a joke. Vandy gets beat 59-0 & still gets votes. Maryland still ahead of an undefeated UCF who is not ranked at all.

Americans have become rankaholics. Teams, programs, players, fanbases, stadiums, bottled water availability...ok, I made that one up. But it seems we don't believe anything until someone else rates it or ranks it. And every ranking system has a built in bias (agenda, if you prefer). Rankings are what they are, especially at this point in the season:click bait and discussion starters.
Folks can testify as to the pure methods they use to assess teams but the truth is that no matter how thin you slice it, it's still bologna.
I have (mostly) quit getting too excited regarding rankings.

I have always doubted the rankings' validity, but the problem is, we have to have them because this isn't FCS. Nobody's conf. champion automatically goes to the playoff.
