Well, that SBU team was only down a TD going into the 4th Q at South Florida (ended up losing by 14). The same South Florida team that is currently #18 in the country.

Perhaps we will be a favorite against Towson on Senior Day, but otherwise, I expect us to be the underdog going in every week for the rest of the season. The underdog role has led to creativity in the past and some surprising results. The main point is that we have no remaining easy games on the schedule. Looking forward to a solid effort Saturday and hopefully a win.
W&M will definitely be favored against Towson (my guess is 4 point favorites if you could bet now - injuries could adjust the line). Not sure if there is a line out now, but I would imagine W&M is a small fave against Stony Brook.
JMU, Delaware, Richmond, & Maine are definite underdog games. I would guess slight dogs against Elon & New Hampshire.

If possible our receivers Kuzjak, Armstrong, Christian, Caskin need 3-4 completions each. These guys need to be a part of the game beyond the blocking responsibilities. They do it well, but getting them into the game as a receiver will pay dividends. They aren’t even averaging 3-4 targets a game. They don’t have to be long throws. Get it to them 5-10 yards down the field and let them make a play. SB will put an extra guy in the box and challenge us to pass. Quick hitters will pull that defender out of the box opening up running lanes.

Those 4 have 22 receptions combined this season. Getting them each 3-4 completions would mean McKee completed at least 12 passes to his receivers; he's averaging fewer than 12 completions/game total.

Who has SBU beaten that has some of you claiming that we're outmatched? The Seawolves scored 10 pts on offense vs USF. Their first TD was a blocked punt recovered in the endzone. Bidell busted a long run for the other TD. 2 great plays accounted for 14 of their 17 points. They still count, of course, but it's not like they gave UCF a scare.
Stacy Bidell is an excellent RB but our front 7 are more than capable of controlling him. Definitely a tough league challenge for us but let's not act like we're playing bama.

Good point. I am aware that is the current state and I don’t see much changing this week. SB doesn’t bring a big passing game. If and when they score it will most likely be long drives. I predict we will also play it conservatively. This seemed like a good game to get them involved in a safe ball control passing game. We’ll see.

RE: Stony Brook
What I like about Stony Brook as an opponent is that they're exactly the kind of team we can matchup with. Ball control, limiting turnovers, fighting in the trenches. All things this year's team wants to do and is (relatively) good at. I'm much less confident against a team that can turn a game into a track meet (JMU) but Stony Brook will show us whether our front 7 is for real and whether our o-line can get out and block. I'm excited, I like us on Saturday.

Hope that the two-deep again showing Durant and Wimmer out is just a reflection of our usually lethargic changing of the two-deep that rarely reflects the true status.
If those two are again out it has to point out that the original "not too serious" call was either hasty or
greatly underappreciated. Durant is a pre-season first team All-American, the co-captain, and the defensive leader...he is greatly missed in there.
Like others, I see a close, defensive struggle. Have to hope they expand the offense.

This is exactly the kind of game that having Durant and Wimmer back would be a great help. The continued expansion and improvement with the offense and sustained excellence of the defense should lead to a Tribe victory.
I hope to see you all Saturday at the victory celebration!

Let's keep things straight. Durant is not a co-captain, and he plays offensive tackle.

Also not a first team All-American. But yeah I'd like him to play on Saturday also.

Well, his surname is spelled D-U-R-A-N-T so we're making progress.

Laycock mentioned both Durant and Wimmer as players he hopes to have back on Saturday but noted that nothing is "for sure yet".

Does anybody have an update on Funderburke? Saw him on the sidelines against Bucknell. Any clue when he may return? We are hearing rumors that it will be soon, but figured this would be the game he would be back.

I heard he could play but he was the same situation as Wimmer and Durant

No discussion on their board, and no game notes on their site. Maybe they're not coming!

Pretty sparse occupancy in the section(s) next to the designated visitors section too.

RE: Stony Brook
I think a big key will be to force Stony Brook into passing situations. Carbone REALLY struggled against us last year and I'd love to see our re-energized DL get a chance to get after the QB.
