RE: Rice v FIU ~~POST-GAME THREAD~~
What a shame to lose a winnable game at home.
The Facebook broadcast commentator Erik Coleman several times was frustrated that Rice continued to run wide ... and to the short side ... since FIU linebackers are so fast. "Rice is being stubborn," he said once.

Damn that's disappointing. I was hoping for a win for. 4- 8 season. It looks like 3 - 9. What a game! Two great teams at it. Should have been on ESPN for the world to see how great an institution Rice is and what a great President and coaching staff we have. We can't beat anybody but we can out study everybody.

Absolute garbage offense. They played 8 in the box, dared us to throw, and we just kept on trying to run outside while we never got a linebacker blocked all night. Fire JK if he's not going to fire Bailiff.

Given our loss at home to FIU, I'm curious to hear who you think those other two wins are going to come against?

UAB and squeeze by Army or North Texas. We get red hot in October and November every year. By the way go watch the Lady Owls soccer team Friday. They are on a roll. Forget about Football so you can sleep better at night. (09-23-2017 09:25 PM)waltgreenberg Wrote: (09-23-2017 09:22 PM)OldOwl Wrote: Damn that's disappointing. I didn't see enough of the game to really meaningfully comment. But only 7 points against a bad team at home ...? Bailiff really seems to suck at hiring offensive coaches. Since the Herman group of assistants left, our offensive coaching staff has been pretty uninspiring. Who knew that we had it good in the Reagan days?!? I wish McGuffie had some eligibility left so this staff could run it up the middle with him on 10-straight plays!

That was FIU loss at home. Not Stanford, not Houston, heck not even So Miss, La Tech, etc. It was a bottom 10 team that came in and won at HRS.
Alcorn St had more offense against FIU than Rice did.
Program continues to hit new lows. OL was awful, Tyner was not a stand out. D was decent but Lynch did not have a good game even with the limitations at QB, RB, and OL. This is a bad football team. Looking for hope. Can't see it right now. FIU is a bad team.

Next four opponents: Pitt, Army, utsa, la tech. Possible 1-7 start, thanks JK!

My sense is that JK does not care what you think. He cares about the opinions of the heavy hitters on the board.

Let's dive into the McKinsey Report for some good options here.

Rice will have to *work* to win three this year. I see a two win season as a definite possibility.

Well I hope he enjoys all three people at the games.

Does the 25th Amendment, specifically Section 4, apply to the Head Coach or Athletic Director at Rice?

Bobby seems to approve. If you got the Killer Bs that's all you need as Rice's AD.

RE: Rice v FIU ~~POST-GAME THREAD~~
I had to leave for dinner right after FIU scored in the first part of the second half. Turned out it was a good decision.
I have no prediction for the rest of the season.
At this point, I'm just thinking about our players and their families. As bad as I feel, they have to feel 10X's worse.
I'll be at the Army game, hoping for the best. After that, as the old Eight Ball would say, "The future is cloudy and uncertain".

I thought it was premature in the past...but now we can officially begin the post-Bailiff coach search.
