Rice wins against Marshall. Took 5 sets, but a road win is a road win.

Always a good win when you win in the road but Marshall is pretty weak.

RE: Women Volleyball
Anybody know the status of Kyle McKay and Shelby Livingstone? I have not seen either included in the game statistics for several weeks now. I thought Kyle was one of our best players during last year's conference tournament, so I assume she is out with an injury. Same for Shelby?

Rice was down 0-2 to UAB, but Rice fight never dies, and they come back to win the match. A very good match to not lose. Rice still controls its own destiny in the regular season conference standings, at one match behind leader WKU, which Rice will play later this season on Autry Court.

Livingstone has not suited up this season, and is on the sidelines with a clipboard. I've heard rumor she will apply for a medical redshirt.

RE: Women Volleyball
Livingstone is rehabbing from ACL surgery and I assume will apply for a redshirt year unless she goes ahead and graduates and heads to medical school.

McKay has been dealing with an illness that has kept her out of action for a couple of weeks. Hopefully she will be back as the season progresses.

It seems the team plays down to their competition but have been winning regardless.

The truth will come soon. All seven conference matches so far have been against the bottom half of the conference. Six of the remaining seven matches are against the top half of the conference. I'll be surprised if we win four or more of those seven matches.

Rice continued to do well in five set matches. They beat UTSA 3-2 by coming back in set four then dominating set five.

Great win but not sure why we start out slow all of the time.

That was a nice win over Charlotte on the road. They will need to play like this if they want a chance against Western Kentucky.

RE: Women Volleyball
The girls have a homestand this weekend against conference leading WKU and mid-table Southern Miss. If they can take one of those, they lock up third place at a minimum. Outside chance on getting up to the one seed, but it relies on UNT dropping two games and WKU dropping one game besides Rice. They play each other, so one needed loss will happen, but the other chances are UNT vs Marshall/LaTech/MTSU and WKU vs MTSU. Our best chance is Marshall and LaTech over UNT (next weekend; UNT on the road) then UNT over WKU in Denton. Those odds are very long as LaTech and MTSU are tied for last with UTEP at 2-9 in conference, and Marshall is also in the bottom half of the table.

Rice split this weeks matches, losing 3-0 to WKU and beating USM 3-1. They have one game left in the regular season at UTSA next Saturday. If they beat UTSA, they will finish third; otherwise, most likely forth.

Rice beats UTSA on the road in 5 sets. Nice win. They finish the regular season 21-7 (11-3 in conference) and are the 3rd seed for the conference tournament next week in Bowling Green, KY. They'll play #6 seed USM Friday in the opening round.

The bad news is Western Kentucky ends up as the 2 seed so we're looking at a potential semifinal match-up with them on their home court on Saturday.
