It’s year 4 for Doc. His system, his players, no more excuses. His record is 20-63 (.241). What must Doc do (or not do) to keep his job? Win a certain # of games? Show the slightest of improvement? Not lose to William Carey or A-A&M or Blue Mountain or Rust College?

Or is Sadler safe REGARDLESS of what happens this season?

Reality? He'll be safe and given another year because we're poor. We need to get the money to renovate the Greenhouse, then get a new coach. That way he'll have something to actually recruit to.

My wish? All the above would have happened two years ago.

What's his contract status again? I remember he didn't get his last extension, but just how many years does he have left on it at this point?

And a $2,000,000 buy out.

I'm pretty sure, it was a 4-year rolling contract, but as it didn't get extended last year, it's now at a 3-year contract.

If he's in year 1 of 3, he's probably safe regardless. It's doubtful at best that we have the cash to go buying out multiple years.

If all of the facts I have read about are true, it is another disappointing contract issued by Southern Miss. A 4-year rolling contract is absurd unless the guy is winning big time.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong on this, but the four year rolling contract is pretty standard for coaches in MS. MS only allows max four year contracts and it is the way schools have handled it as a "good faith" type thing for the coaches since they couldn't lock them down for a 7 year or whatever.

The new AD chose to not roll Sadler over to keep it at 4 years. So I believe he has 3 years left. I would think that if improvement is shown this season or maybe next, that would be extended back out to 4 years.

It was standard until recently. It was in the contracts that if the coaches won more games than they lost they were automatically extended a year. Bowers had like 5 - 10% increase. Only one of our coaches has that now.
The wording is the contract can be extended at the ad discretion.
