Look, if he really believes that---then why is he leaving a bill in place that was rammed through the senate in exactly the manner he is opposed to? Repeal Obamacare and then use regular order to craft the replacement. The reality is, as long as Obamacare exists, the Dems have absolutely zero motivation to negotiate. As long as Obamacare exists--its completely in the DEMS best interest to obstruct---and they will---because they no longer consider the middle class to be part of thier core constituency---instead middle America is now the enemy.

The funny thing to me is that it isn't the highly conservative block in The Senate holding this bill up. It's the centrist. They are no different than the 8 demobcrats holding anything up.

The actual bill was only posted a day or two before the vote. NOBODY even knew what it said before voting on it. Hell, even today, much of the bill relies on interpretation by whatever administration is in office. It's a huge, fundamentally flawed piece of legislation that would have never passed had its contents been widely known. It is a wasteful boondoggle that vastly expands the debt while making insurance unaffordable to an increasingly large segment of the middle class. Most importantly, it has not done what it was supposed to do---reduce the cost of medical care. Those are the facts....even Nancy Pelosi admitted the same with her famous "we must pass it to see what's inside it" statement. That crap would NEVER pass if not for a lock step people's army of party loyalist willing to march over a cliff for insurance special interests.

They spent a year holding hearings for show, then wrote a bill behind closed doors that was too big for anyone to be able to read and understand before voting on it. There were people working on a bipartisan approach, but the likes of Pelosi, Reid, and Obama pretty much told them to f-off when they figured out that they could pass a bill with democrats only.

With respect to Pelosi's comment, how is it different from, "I'm God, you're not," on the scale of smug arrogance and condescension?

He could also do this in a far less public, grandstanding fashion. Go to leadership, spell out exactly what you would like to see, what might work, see if they can't make that happen.
