RE: Nebraska AD Fired
Someone should fire the Chancellor for overreacting..... It's a long season. You're 3 games in. Fire your people when the season ends.

I hope they lose out the rest of the way---or better yet, win out and show how good NIU actually is.

I just saw this thread a few minutes ago and hadn't posted about it, but I certainly thought that even from watching the post-game interviews. The AD firing just seals it.

I think you guys are being too sensitive about this. They really have no choice. I think Nebraska fans are probably the most rabid fan base in all of college football, and if they are not , they are in the small team photo. The amount of pressure that puts on those in charge of the program is immense. Like politicians with Congressional districts, they have to do things to appease their constituents. Would it be nice to get some respect for NIU from these guys, of course! But that would be like a politician doing what they believe is right over what their constituents say, which we know is very rare. I do not see it as a sign of disrespect, its just politics.

RE: Nebraska AD Fired
As Lord Stanley mentioned, would he have been fired if it was Rutgers they lost to, who just lost to EMU? Or is that okay because they are Big 10 now? What about Kansas?

I realize Nebraska fans still think they are a football powerhouse. But they aren't.

Nebraska and Notre Dame are two of the most overrated powers of the Midwest. They think they're better then they are and they fire staff at will.... Glad we beat them. Maybe we can poach their recruits. Lol. I don't feel sorry for them.

RE: Nebraska AD Fired
I cursed Christian Spears for signing this wacky 4 games/8 year Nebraska deal. I never knew until this weekend NIU got the 820K for the 1st game. Does anyone know if it is the same for all 4 games? Not a bad payday..pretty short trip.

Not so bitter at Spears right now...lol.

I'd pump the breaks on the Christian Spears love because according to this Arkansas State got $1.6 million for their game two weeks earlier.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nc...608668001/

Although NIU got $1.027 million for the Soldier Field game that had to be canceled.

RE: Nebraska AD Fired
It may have been they were Not liking the AD in the first place after the Bo firing and them not being so great as a result...

... and as others pointed out, the many-games deal with NIU and lotsa payout to NIU -- and then getting beat by NIU. I think a (thick) straw that broke the camel's back.

But I agree with what some others said. Fire people like that at end of season... or near it when you size up who you want as AD by that point.

They should consider hiring Sean Frazier. He has the ability, the only thing he is missing is money.

The new AD might look at canceling the remaining 3 games on the NIU series. It'd be a nice check ($2.4 million?) but I hope not, these remaining ones could be fun. The fact they're paying Pelini, Eichorst and (soon) Riley something like $10 million not to work might weigh against that though.

You would think some of the Nebraska alumni would want an opportunity to avenge the loss, no?

My guess is they will get someone from another "bigger" school or someone with Nebraska history.

Well it'll bring back bad memories and if the new coach loses to NIU again Katy bar the door. I wouldn't think they'd want to play again.

Both programs are living in the 80's when only they made it on tv.
Now that every team gets to be seen by parents on tv they don't get the cream of the crop of players.
