He just doesn't have the body to put on muscle.

He might get more defined, but he's not going to gain a lot of muscle mass.

As for gaining weight...he might...but he, even now, is pretty slow afoot and adding weight will just make him slower.

Shawn Bradley gained some weight, but nothing crazy. Manute Bol got "fat skinny" but was still really thin.

And apparently Connor missed some games in high school with a stress fracture. That's never a good thing for tall dudes.

Ouch

.... at least we know why Vanover doesn't like it under the basket.

Good thing he has developed an outside shot.

This kid is a 1 star on talent. His height gives him the extra 2 stars.

I'm looking at all the data we've been given and who we beat out and 2018.

He's a project--slow moving one. We still need players for 2018.

you used the word 'sucks' btw.

I'm pretty sure a redshirt has been discussed. However, I think some hope transferrring to Findlay Prep will help prepare him for D1 ball. I hope so.

He's definitely a work in progress. He'll have a year at a great basketball program then college. He looks like a good redshirt opportunity.

We are better off in size and physicality than we've been in years.

RE: Can't Wait To Watch Vanover's Development
One clip? Ok...

I'm excited the kid is on board. Absolutely.
Regarding his weight, I think he can certainly put on weight and he will as he matures with the help of the strength and conditioning training he'll get here.

If he's roughly 220 now I'd guess that a playing weight of 240 would be likely when he suits up here. I don't think he's got the frame to support bad weight or even too much good weight, if that makes sense.

I thought, for example, that Keith Lee put on too much weight by his senior year. It just wasn't natural to his body. I think he came in at 6-10 and 188 pounds and ended up at about 220, which was too much in his case. 210 may have been good or even 205.

Anyway, I'm excited to see how Vanover develops.

Are you serious...

First move was a high level spin move from the kid...Anyone caught in that position likely would have been scored on.

Second move was a stupid decision by someone 7-4 to try to steal the ball.

He may turn out to be slaw but this 2 play clip is nothing.

everyone needs to remember that you can't teach 7'4"

would you rather try to develop a 6'1" kid or a 7'4" kid?

Tall is awesome as long as it works on both ends of the court.

I have been consistent (and others who sometimes don't see eye to eye all the time) that the kid better not be a 7'4 wing in college.

It's easy getting off a three pointer when some 5'5 inch kid from {insert name} Baptist Tech is closing in on you. A lot different if some athletic 6'7 dude is sticking on you as you cross halfcourt.

He's really going to need to be a low post presence if he is going to be of use in college. I'm looking forward to seeing him at Findlay this year--that will give us a good indication of readiness for next year.

The height is intriguing and he's definitely worth having on the roster.

That's unfair bc Rose didn't need the development and was one of the best players in the country. Of course you'd rather have Rose. Now take a 6'1 kid who is ranked 200, would you rather develop that kid or a 7'4 guy ranked just outta the top 250? I'd assume it was the 7'4 kid. Red Shirt the kid and see what he has in 2019 (which will still be limited), he's a 4 year kid who we are going to have to let develop which will take some time.

That's actually 2 clips...they look identical except one is a dunk. Too bad we couldn't get Stanley too. :)
