There were two other plays that had potential consequence that may have been incorrectly called or, more accurately, not called. The Nebraska pass in the endzone that Williams was not called for pass interference and the Blake pass to Brinkman which also looked liked pass interference.

I actually thought that was a good no call on the end zone pass interference. The receiver fell down on his own and was tripped over and run into after he fell. At the minimum I thought it was 50 50 call.

The endzone one was tough. As MD said, the WR fell down and it would be tough to not run into him. Not sure how they usually call that. I thought there was face-guarding on the Blake pass. Bottom line, I have no idea what pass interference is anymore.

Is face guarding a penalty in college? I thought it was just the pros.

There was one play where Huff had a handful of face mask and it wasn't called.

Overall I thought the officiating was fair if even partially favorable to NIU for whatever reason.

My sentiments as well, we got plenty of holding calls on NU that favored us. I even remember several back to back holding calls made on NU that wiped otherwise big plays

What's funny, they mentioned at the time you can't forward and the refs were marking the ball at the original spot of the touch by NIU, then suddenly it was initial touch by Nebraska.

Let's not forget the non fumble fumble on NUs QB

I still don't understand how a QB holding the ball in his right hand, gets hit with the ball oscillating to the left hand and up the shoulder and loses control completely as he falls to the ground isn't a fumble.... I think there were clear breaks each way

Ya there was NOT indisputable evidence to overturn that called turnover.

...were those MAC refs?

There wasn't indisputable evidence from what I could see. If it was pinned against his shoulder when he hit the ground then he's down. And they would have never called illegal touching on that punt. We got what we deserved on that one...Embry made one of the dumbest plays you'll ever see

I thought Nebraska's QB was down before the ball came out.

You are right. The 30 years I have been watching NIU football, Embry trying to catch a punt off a bounce one handed is the dumbest play I have ever seen.

I believe I remember Beebe doing that once in a previous year, though he managed to handle that punt.

I'm guessing this is sarcasm...but either way, a punt returner misplaying, falling down and trying to one hand a bouncing punt is inarguably a terribly stupid play

Oh man, that was big. Erases any BSing any Nebraska fans would have about the refs not being on their side. The kicking was obvious. I remember during the game the announcers pointed it out and chuckled.
