The volleyball team went 4-0 last week despite missing two key players for three of those games. Several freshmen were key contributors. Nicole Lennon was named conference freshman of the week for the second time this season.

This is a poll that covers all non-P5 teams. Rice was #25 early in the season, but was among "Others Receiving Votes" for the last two weeks.

WKU is #5 and North Texas is #21. Southern Miss is in the "Others Receiving Votes" list. WKU is the top "Others Receiving Votes" team in the national coaches Top 25 poll.

Any word on how the two players are doing?

I have no information. Waggoner was on the bench (but not dressed out) for the Saturday evening game and appeared to be Ok. I did not see McDaniel all weekend.

Where are we now ranked in the overall college poll? If we are ranked in the Top 25 in academics we should be ranked in the Top 25 for athletics, at least that was JK goal. The Mid Major poll is really kinda meaningless.

I agree that our teams should be Top 25. Especially in sports with limited pro prospects, the value of a Rice scholarship should provide a recruiting edge that puts us at or near the top of the conference.

However, if you only look at Top 25 polls, you have no objective metrics to evaluate how close we are to Top 25. Even when we are not meeting our goal, I'm still interested in understanding how well the team is doing overall. Even though I don't think that volleyball will finish in the Top 25, I still want to know if they will finish in the Top 100.
