And I wonder why. Could be a grades issue, coming that late, I guess.
Are you sure she didn’t get in before it closed? I may be wrong, but I don’t think you can get in after it closes unless you’ve graduated.

Quote:“Cheyenne did decide to enter the transfer portal a day before it closed,” JMU coach Sean O’Regan said. “We wish her the best of luck. So three of our freshmen are out, but Chloe is going to stick with it. We’ve got six total out the door.”

Sources indicated Rowe, a 6-2 Ontario product, was considering giving up basketball and returning to her native Canada where she was a productive member of the under-18 national team, but entered the portal at the last minute to keep her options open.

She may not have gotten her paperwork in on time. I don't know. It just said on the page that she entered the portal after it closed.

And apparently nobody's picked up on Touré YET. ~SMDH~ What is wrong with people?

Per Raoul, Kadidia was finally picked up by Arizona State. Good for her, and good on them for recognizing the talent. Hope she does well there.

Good for her. AZ St. may well be the weakest team in the PAC12 so perhaps she’ll get more playing time there.

And Cheyenne did not go back to Canada or quit basketball as rumored. She has signed with UTSA, which will probably afford her more playing time. She also gets an equally good coach in Karen Aston.

I'm not sure what to make of her decision to transfer. Perhaps her decision was based on the idea that she deserved more playing time (and wasn't willing to wait or work any longer for it) at JMU, or didn't see that her Sophomore year at JMU provided an expanded pathway/opportunity for more minutes. Or maybe she just likes Tex-Mex, and the burritos are better in San Antonio.

Whatever the reason, while Aston is a good coach, the UTSA gym and playing environment is (at best) only so-so when compared to JMU. While Aston has had success, she's jumped around a lot. Just a strange move in my book. To each their own.

I don't get why she left either. Whether it was the breakup of the Fab Five (which I personally think was really sad), or something else, maybe academics, who knows? She'll be missed, certainly. It seemed like a last minute decision.

As for Aston, I think she really found her niche at UTSA, a slightly less high-pressure environment than Texas. They've been doing decently.

Yep. A young's person kind of decision. Hope she doesn't regret it. Not knocking UTSA (I have family who attended and graduated from the school), but its not a campus environment I'd find appealing. Very much a George Mason-like school, hence almost a 180 degrees different than JMU.

Having toured Mason back when my student was visiting schools, the difference in the 2 could not be more apparent. We went back again when we thought it would be it's busiest moment on campus just to make sure our 1st impressions weren't wrong. I felt that was the biggest piece of advice I gave others when evaluating campuses for their kids. Thinking they'd go over spring break to make sure nobody was in the way and they could get in and out easy; I said they had to go when it's operating under normal conditions so their child knew what to expect.

When I was first looking at colleges, JMU and GMU were my top 2. Originally my decision was made on relationships made with the music programs.
However, the more research I did on George Mason, the less I liked it. It truly is a 180 on JMU. GMU gave me this incredibly uneasy feeling.
JMU on the other hand, always felt like home from the very first time I set foot on campus.

RE: WBB Recruiting
I have a friend who has twin grandsons who were born prematurely. One of them is going to GMU because he is legally blind and apparently they have excellent programs and accommodations for visually impaired students, so there is that in its favor. Other than that, yuk, especially its law school. But how did that get into a discussion of Cheyenne Rowe? She went to UTSA.

Her options once she entered the portal might have been limited. Maybe she took what she could get.

RE: WBB Recruiting
UTSA is not that bad a mid-major. It's in a different conference but about on a par with JMU. I'm wondering if it had something to do with the breakup of the Fab Five. Seriously. Otherwise, since it happened so late in the spring, it could have been academics. Just spitballing here.

The DNR say's we're in the final 20 for this 5 star recruit.

https://www.espn.com/high-school/girls-b...i-mcmiller

Not sure how, but if so she would likely be the highest ranking recruit for one of our major sports.

I think this would likely need to be a NIL win, which I believe is not likely.

She’s the 6th rated recruit and already has an NIL deal with the Jordan Brand.

That's why I said it would need to be a NIL win. She's already use to the $.
