He missed a few facts; Jackson Dillon, still has us playing Georgia State but a nice article.

The comment shows what a national game can do for exposure:

Quote:My college didn’t have a football team, and I’m from the Northeast where you don’t generally root for a college program you didn’t attend just because they’re local. If anything you root against them (eat **** BC!). My sundays are dominated by football and w/ two kids under 4 I’m thankful I get to watch the Pats and every minute I can get of Red Zone.

So I never watch college football, but I randomly found myself with a free hour to myself this past saturday. I settled on UCLA v Memphis because it was the only game not in a commercial break at the time and NOW I AM ALL IN ON MEMPHIS. This post is perfectly timed. This is now my team. I bleed blue and orange(?)

tl;dr - go Tigers(?)!

Nice (and hilarious) article. The first comment is really cool, too (other than his team colors guess)

This is exactly how I became a Memphis fan 36 years ago. Aside from someone going all in, we are going to keep getting really good tv ratings because we are so fun to watch. Boise, Baylor and TCU got this reputation and even if you don't cheer for them you watch their games because they are super fun.

When Baylor and Oregon started scoring hundreds of points I started watching their games when there weren't games involving teams I had a specific interest in.

The crowd size this Saturday will help indicate the bandwagon effect, if any, of the glorious UCLA victory.

Its all about the head coach. College football programs ARE the head coach. We have had two good ones. I don't know how we can keep the coach but we have to hope the guy is happy and stays. Otherwise we are one average hire away from slipping back to the pack. But we can worry about that later, I am enjoying the ride for now.

I'm with you.

So, let's not talk about the fact half of the SEC schools may be coach shopping this coming year...

I am not real sure that Norvell would be a good fit in the SEC. He would probably be better in the Big 12 or Pac 10.

Kansas needs a coach...and some O linemen.

That was the QBs fault...Chop blocks indicate that it was supposed to be a quick short throw.

Yep, looks like it should have been a short 2 sec drop/short pass, good recognition.

True, O line blocked for a screen, poorly, but looks like the receiver fell down.

And that's when the QB just throws the ball at the receiver's feet & calls the next play......

After the loss of Fuente....whatever the formula for finding Norvell was....let's keep it going. Maybe the plan is to start the potential need to hire a new coach...now...so that you don't get blind sided like what happened when Calipari left. Having applicants in the wings, ready to fill a position when a key person leaves, is just good management.
