The old Buster was fine.

Just needed to be hosed-off, scrubbed-down and cleaned-up.

No different than most of us on this board....

The new Buster's expression reminds me of this scene from the old movie "Trading Places."

RE: Bring back the old Buster petition
The comments on the site are true about the new one. The new one looks like an ex-boyfriend child-molester, which isn't so appealing to kids who want to interact with the mascot.

HOWEVER, having that new mascot uniform on-hand Would be good, when pulling an "Ohio Bobcat" mascot stunt, attacking another mascot:

Like WMU Rag said, Lee Corso put the national spotlight on Buster last year. Why change now?

This is my one and only criticism of the new-look.

Stanford were the Indians until 1972. The Tree is actually the bands mascot. It's become a part of their culture.

Bucky Buckeye isn't tough looking, but he's a solid brand loved and adored.

When you have a known brand you don't change it midstream unless like Stanford's Indians, it becomes a political liability.

Buster has gone from a unique characature to a generic horse mascot just like Boise's and Denver's.

Kids and Parents love Old Buster.

Corso gave us a million dollars in free advertising last year, and we're throwing it away.

RE: Bring back the old Buster petition
Not to put too fine a point on it, but this Old Head often wishes he could get a new body. Nothing wrong with that. At this early stage it would still be OK to fine tune the updated head a bit, budget allowing. Lots of kids are scared by mascots, no need to send them screaming for the exits. On the other hand that scary, agitated, manic look can work pretty good on some levels, if the fans just keep their wits about them for long enough to let it all sink in. Could even be a bit funny if your psyche can deal, with it.

RE: Bring back the old Buster petition
As the new Buster rushes on the field he falls and comes up Lame. The team veterinarian emerges from the tunnel and shoots new Buster putting him out of his misery. The carcus is carted off and thrown into a garbage can made to look like a can of Alpo.

Then the team emerges led by Triumph and the Old Buster.

Crowd goes insane 02-13-banana

My earliest memories of WMU start with Buster in the late 1990s... this is ruining my childhood. Honest to god.

This is an AWESOME article!!! READ READ READ!!! It's all about the protest on barstoolsports.com and their take on it!

And read this one, too from barstoolsports.com! It's about a WMU student who is not Buster... but man, I'd like to bust her! :)
