It is amusing to me that nearly everybody in this thread, except the UTEP fans, considers Rice an automatic win. For some it will be a win, but for some...maybe not. That's why we play the games. Stuff happens. Our starting QB is out this week. Does that mean we will be weaker? In the opinion of some Rice fans, it means we will be stronger.

I doubt that we will finish 1-11. We might, I just think the odds are very small. What games will we win? Ask me again in November.

If we beat FIU tomorrow we'll go at least 2-10!

I'm sticking with my pre-season prediction of 5-7. I think we'll win the Rice (because it's at home), Charlotte, and UTEP games. Really don't see us beating La Tech or Florida. Hope we could sneak up on UNT, USM, UTSA, or MTSU.

So if Western wins this thing again....

I haven't seen a offense yet that looks like it can put 24 points on the board game in game out.

Hell that means Western still has a chance. Wait what am I thinking, Western will be lucky to score 20 ppg.

I'm not high on this Western team and believe the only game that should be a sure thing, UNCC. But if Western gets past Ball St today the schedule plays out very well to grow and get more use to the new offensive sets. Western has Ball St, bye, UTEP, UNCC. All 3 should be very winnable games...lose one I believe this team falls apart.

Four weeks before Western plays @ODU and that should give a great clue on how Western season plays out. If Western comes out of those 4 games 4-0 and steady growth. I believe it will come down to Middle @Western for the east. I'm not dismissing Marshall but like Western I believe it's too early to say. I believe their season changes on a win vs a loss in the ODU game

Right now I wouldn't bet 2 bucks on a Western win vs anyone but UNCC. But with growth and confidence and the way CUSA has played. I can see this thing coming down to Western/Middle in the east. If that happens I'm totally wrong on a 35 year old coach or CUSA is just awful.

This. Oddly enough, it's also ridiculously hard to go winless at ANY level. Every team has those days when the ball is bouncing consistently one way or the other. This is why I'm convinced that when a team goes winless the biggest problem is not on the field...there's something going on in the locker room or further behind the scenes.

Its been shown to go winless is harder than to go undefeated....

We're going to give it our best shot.

If we lose today, there is a good chance we go winless. I think we play utep too, so realistically, I see two opportunities for wins. We need a massive turnaround from the first 3 weeks to win other games, which is sad because our schedule isn't brutal.

I was bothered by WKU's play last night against Ball St. The final score just doesn't tell the average reader that Ball State almost won that game. A couple of slip ups in the last minute made the final outcome look much different that it really was.

Something is wrong with Mike White. Yes, he completed 28 of 44 passes for 319 yds last night, but had only 1 TD pass vs 2 INT's. He finished last night with a 35.9 adjusted QB rating, vs an average QBR of 77.6 all last season. White has definitely lost his touch this year. Something is not right. I thought White looked awful in the 4th quarter last night.

I'm still not confident Western can beat any team other than UNCC and 60/40 on UTEP.

I don't believe it's Mike White's having a bad season so much as it is the offense. This offense is not giving him the outs on a safety receiver over the middle on a dump off. It's not using the slot receiver for a quick 5 yard hit over the middle. This coach wants to go down field. Not as in deep balls but 15 yards down field instead of the quick tempo, quick hitting short passes that work when a team blitz you. I don't believe (no facts just a belief) this coach wants White to focus down field and they are insisting he goes there first. I think it's playing with his head....kind of looks like he did in the West coast offense at USF.

The last Western drive and the first couple against Tech...were quick hitters that open up the field. It also opens up the run attacking the end of the line. White looked great when Western runs that offense. When coaches want you to look down field first...

lot of times it's too late for anything over the middle shorter. The pressure in on him and he is rolling into it instead of stepping up in the pocket. Without more improvement that we saw over the first 1/3 of the season. I don't see 4 more wins. Luckily most of CUSA teams on our schedule are having the same problems.

I truly truly believe LA Tech will be favored in all of it's remaining 8 games. However, that certainly doesn't mean we'll win them.

SO....La Tech gets slaughtered by MSUcks, which gets slaughtered by UGA, and now La Tech is KING O' DA WORLD!

Hey! I'm not saying you guys aren't the BEST in the WEST....but the verdict is still WAY WAY OUT!

This weekend's games will start the real process of sorting out the best teams...

Latech is currently favored in all accept UTSA right now. But they might be by the time that game is played. La tech pass game looked better last game. It'll give utsa D trouble if it keeps up. Not too impressed with utsa pass coverage right now, but pressure at the line has helped a lot.
