This complaint is overblown. They had water, just not bottled water. Every stand I saw was providing free ice water to everyone who order bottled water. I actually thought it quite gracious given those in the stands have nothing to do with ordering.

The 2 stands I tried, did not provide free ice water. I bought a cup of ice for $4, then went to the water fountain. The fountains were working. But I'm not a big fan - especially after seeing people stick their heads into the fountain.

I don't touch the fountain, just get the water. Sure, absolutely no excuse for not having enough bottled water but water available for those stressed by the heat - no defense of the LB mgmt here but with all the water available it was not an emergency situation that some want to imply.

It's not a deal breaker for me. I will be back. Other things went really well. I did not have the waits that some of you are talking about. Probably the best crowd movement at a "big" college fb game I've ever been to.

It's just unnecessary - the water. If they knew they had a hurricane-related shortage, they should have at least allowed people to bring 2 bottles in with them. I don't buy the shortage, though. They had an opening game with ULM that they had to plan for. And I guarantee you they didn't sell any water for that game. So they should have had all that inventory available. And that inventory would have been bought before Harvey or Irma.

It's poor logistical planning. And think about the revenue implication. They could have easily sold one more bottle per person on Saturday. That's about $200k in revenue lost.

Even though I told her that she couldn't do it, my wife was somehow able to bring a full bottle of water into the stadium in her clear plastic bag. I don't know if they intentionally let her bring it in, or if they're just really bad at "security".

Don't think anyone is defending the LB mgmt, no excuses there. I don't buy the idea of a shortage either.

Gate 2 wouldn't open all turnstiles till AFTER kickoff 03-banghead

They had staff. They used them to block the 3rd (unused turnstile)!!! After kickoff, the same employee blocking the turnstile became the ticket scanner. WTF!!!03-hissyfit

My wife too, took bottled water in her clear bag. So much for the clear bag logic....01-wingedeagle

Eh maybe some concessions did that. Kudos to them. I went to 2 before halftime and both were out of bottled water. I got charged $4 for tap water on ice. I can afford it, but really? Out of water before halftime??

Pro tip: not only does Uncle Lou have the best dayum chiggen strips at LB, they also never run out of their famous lemonade or kool aid (it was lemonade for ucla), iced down in a collector's cup @ $4 per.

Doesn't anybody wear cargo shorts anymore? You can fit four or five bottled waters in there and all security is checking is your waistband. As long as they don't enforce a "clear cargo shorts policy" then I'll be living high off the hog at the LB for years to come.

You know it. And whenever security asks to see your waistband, immediately after showing it to them deadpan, "Pervert."

It kills every time.

RE: Liberty Bowl Event Management
Somebody told me the supplier that the LB uses for water supply had shipped a vast majority of their water to Houston.

IF that is the case, I give a slight pass on the water situation. They should've changed things up, like allowing people to bring water from outside. Even changing that policy 24 hours in advance could've made a HUGE difference.

The lines is a totally different matter. We went into the stadium around 10:15 and breezed in, so some is on fans waiting until the last minute. But, MOST is on them. It needs to be much better handled.

RE: Liberty Bowl Event Management
I volunteered to work in one of the concessions stands for the game.
WHEN IT WAS DETERMINED THAT WE WERE OUT OF WATER, LB MANAGEMENT INSTRUCTED US TO GIVE ICE AND WATER IN CUPS TO FANS FOR FREE.
IN ADDITION, PEOPLE STARTED HOARDING BOTTLES OF WATER EARLY IN THE GAME. I HAVE NEVER SEEN PEOPLE PURCHASE 6 OR 7 BOTTLES OF WATER AT ONE TIME EVER BEFORE.

THIS WASN'T THE HOTTEST GAME IN MEMPHIS HISTORY. I HAVE BEEN VOLUNTEERING FOR ABOUT 15 YEARS.
YES, I THINK LB MANAGEMENT DID A POOR JOB. HOWEVER, THEY TRIED TO MAKE IT RIGHT.

ALL OF THESE DAMN PEOPLE WHO CAN'T DRINK ANYTHING BUT BOTTLED WATER NEED TO GET A LIFE. THAT CUP OF ICE WITH TAP WATER FROM OUR STAND GOT NO COMPLAINTS.

WE WILL ***** ABOUT ANYTHING.

Friend of mine shows up to my front door to go to the game about 10 years ago and has a solo cup in his hand of something. I think cool I'm driving he has already started. We get in the car and on the way to the game he rolls up on his side in the passenger seat and pulls a nozzle out of one of his 10 huge cargo short pockets, opens it and refills his cup with some wine. This dude had stopped at the liquor store on the way and bought a box of cheap wine, taken it out of the box and stuffed it in one of his short pockets. Went into the game unnoticed and he drank wine all night.

RE: Liberty Bowl Event Management
So I started this thread with the thought I would avoid the water topic. It can be assumed that running out of water is bad. And it's covered in other spots.

What about the Boy Scout's only letting UCLA people park in their offices and no one park on the green space on the corner of Hollywood and Central?

What about the egress debacle. Who is in charge of the egress from the event. I would assume no one...

I hope the Navy game isn't too cold because I plan on smuggling fried chicken in pocket #3 and some cheesecake in pocket #6.
