Liberty Bowl Event Management
Was a great day, the UofM did all it could to make our city look great... but who is responsible (the person) for the LB events? Taking tickets and traffic egress and ingress where as bad as I have ever seen.

Health Services, Cleanliness, Concessions; were good... clearly improvements have been made but work still needs to be done.

Also why wont the Boy Scouts let Memphians use their green space for parking and tailgating? The only people I saw at the Boy Scouts HQ where UCLA fans.

There's a lot of improving that still needs to happen at the liberty bowl. And most of it is not on the university.

It's the fans not filling the stadium that caused the traffic standstill after the game.

RE: Liberty Bowl Event Management
The concessions have been doing stuff like running out of water for years now. It's really a miracle that they finally started serving alcohol. I bet they make great money off it too.

I'd like to see a big improvement in concessions like getting better food options. Also, i'd like to see the return of the "souvenir cups" with the Tigers logo and schedule on it. It's probably been 15 years since they did that. Let fans carry a piece of the game home with them. It's a win win.

Room temperature water and soft drinks were served at the spring game. They really need to step up their game. It all plays a role in making the game experience fun especially for a program that needs to add to the fanbase.

Running out of water is inexcusable. There should be a basic oversupply of water regardless of the temperature. Everybody knew that this game was going to be one of the largest attended games even before the season started and well before UCLA was a ranked opponent. By the early part of the 3rd quarter even most of the soft drinks were warm and some of the concessions ran out of food

This complaint is overblown. They had water, just not bottled water. Every stand I saw was providing free ice water to everyone who order bottled water. I actually thought it quite gracious given those in the stands have nothing to do with ordering.

And there are 5 more games this season & water doesnt go bad if you do happen to over-purchase. Perhaps, water being shipped to FL & TX played a role, but that doesnt explain why they were running out of soft drinks, too. I am not pissed or anything, but this should not happen.

Also, a better job needs to be done of showing replays. There appears to be a rule against showing replays of plays under review. I understand the rationale, I suppose, of not getting the fans riled up, but efforts should be made to maximize fan experience, not take away from it. And many times (most?), the replays support the calls made by the ref. Who is driving this rule?

They should not have run out of bottled water. No question.

The water fountains worked the entire game. Just a shout out to those unaware. Yes, you have to leave your seat but there was water access.

Really, especially when it is hot, and the idea of protecting vendors completely understood, venues should a special a policy matter allow water bottles. Period. Yes I get the pat down hassles but really...disallowing that is dismissive of fans. Plenty of expensive corn dogs can still be sold.

In the third quarter, people were going from concession stand to concession stand asking for ice and water, and were being told there was none. I witnessed it. Now, if they had a cup, they could have gone in any bathroom for water. But running out of water on a day like yesterday, was utterly inexcusable, and utterly what the LB has done more than once in the past few years. All the time I heard ambulance siren after ambulance siren tending to overheated people. I saw two people almost die a few years ago at the LB, when there was no water, and one may have died.

Maybe there weren't as many people in the stands late because they were scorched?

Yeah they were turning orange, so they had to leave by 2:30.

I probably refilled my water bottle 5 times at the water fountain. Even found one of those old style, rectangular water fountains on the upper level that had nice, cool water. Was kind of happy to save the 3 or 4 bucks every time I refilled my empty water bottle.

Like someone else said, just buy a coke bottle, empty it and put water in it. Or drink water from the fountain. Bad they ran out of bottled water, but not like there were not ways to get hydrated. Wasn't that long ago that there wasn't such a thing as bottled water - remember the argument was why would people pay for something they could get for free? Don't be a victim, find a solution.

That was my experience too. I went to more than one concession stand wanting to buy just a cup of ice, at any price. The person before me went half way around the stadium, he said, looking for bottled water. They were all out. This was right before the half.

So I was only on a mission to find ice. I dunno where the rest of y'all found ice. Instead, I headed out to Tiger Lane and got water from nice tailgaters.

Basically, I'm not used to being at a sports event in the United States and having to wait in line to get a drink out of a public water fountain or the tap. That may sound snooty to some, but it's just true.

I got free ice & water at the concession stand at 104 in the 3rd & 4th quarters. And they were still selling bottled drinks (not water) too. There was water in every restroom & at the water fountains - unfortunate bottled water was gone but water was available. I saw several guys with their heads in the restroom sinks getting water too. It was hot & there was water, apparently just none you could buy.

uhm...Why don't you tell that to the UCLA fans --go get water in a sink with your head under the faucet.

Where I was sitting next to the UCLA section there was nothing--no ice no water.

One UCLA fan who was complementing our team and our hospitality has already mentioned there was no water-- in another thread.

Defending our team and our coaches is one thing, but defending Liberty Bowl management for running out of bottled water...welp that makes no sense whatsoever --just sayin. lol

I'm guessing anyone that was stressed would not have to be told. Like I said ice water at the 1st concession stand I tried. Otherwise, I would have found water at the fountain or restroom. I have made NO defense of the LB mgmt, just not whining about having to take care of myself. Trust me, I don't expect LB mgmt to take care of my needs.
