I think a cool crowd cheer for kick offs would be: Kicking team lines up for kick, Crowd: OOOOOOOOOOOOhhhh Ball is kicked, Crowd: D! U!

When I cheered I had our squad do that. They have been doing it as recently as last year (haven't been able to see the sidelines this year) but no one in the crowd ever caught on

Because you can't hear the cheerleaders very well in football. Gotta have signs.

I think a bigger scoreboard with better graphics will help get the crowd involved.

What did you see that you think we should be doing?

I like the clapping during the hype video.
I liked the Let's Go.....Hokies.
I like the Idea of OHHHHH...DU on any kickoff.
I liked their REAL Flyover. VT is far from Langley yet they could get a fly over of REAL jets. Why can't we ?
Finally I liked their speakers / sound coming from one endzone vs distributed. The sound bounces way too much with multiple distributed speakers. I guess I would be just happy with any sound at this point.

Thanks for actually providing feedback to a genuine question.

I think installing a sound system everyone can hear and a scoreboard everyone can see would go a long way towards improving crowd involvement.

Glad some finally experienced that. If we're honest with ourselves, we could learn a ton from their basketball atmosphere as well. Just saying...

I think if ODU makes a push to claim best G5 crowd/atmosphere/home field advantage. People will latch on to that and adopt the idea and really embrace it. I think we could make it happen. We already have the best attendance (percentage wise)

Yeah, but we were kicking their but on the court and in game atmosphere before they joined the ACC. That place was dead. Put ODU in the ACC and I would bet the student section would be sold out for every game. VT has nothing on us in basketball that sewing an ACC patch on their jersey didnt give them. Football... completely different story.

Unfortunately, the ACC is an all or nothing conference and it's being driven by football these days.

We won 3 of 4 during the BT era but they had it going during the Curry and Coles days. Good rivalry overall. Still doesn't take away from the atmosphere difference. They synchronize and unfortunately we don't. So does VCU.

RE: Game Atmosphere
It goes back to the students. Ours are either commuters or act like commuters (don't support school or don't attend games) Somehow, the core value of students supporting basketball needs to change and I'm not sure what the answer is.

I think that's what you get with a urban setting. It's night and day when literally when only thing to do is go to a bar, house party or sporting event is available to you.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

Yep, one of the reasons I don't know what the solution is. Heck, I was a commuter student and spent minimal time on campus.
