There’s no substitute for a solid defense. Defense wins championships, period. Most coaches put their best athletes on offense. The MAC, in recent times, has been a conference of wide open offenses. I cringe when I see all the missed tackles, players out of position and poor pass coverage. We’ve had some outstanding individual defensive players over the years, Jason Babin, John Offerdahl and Louis Delmas come to mind. Here’s hoping Coach Lester focuses’s on defense when recruiting.

Your run defense is solid. Just need to get better on the secondary

The difference is, they continue to do what it takes to have winning football programs. Schools like NIU & Toledo have made football a priority...WMU has just pretended to do that. Look at how our last coaching search went. Tells you all that you need to know. Essentially looked at 2 candidates & one was just for show. They made the easy hire. Hired a guy who was going to be out of a job. A guy no one else wanted.

Garbage in = Garbage out

RE: Fire Lester -
Best thing we can hope for is that we are getting good experience for a lot of young players. looking at the 2 deep, we have a lot of freshmen, RS freshmen and sophomores. on the field. Despite a lot of blow out wins last year we never played the young players and they never got on the field to see "game speed". We will loose a lot of good defensive players next year but the youth getting time this year will be seen. You can see how the offense struggles with a lot of losses, but last years coaching decisions did not help only playing 1 QB and 3 WR's. not faulting the RB situation, we rotated a lot, they are all just hurt now. Wasnick never took a snap coming into this year and handcuffed this staff that they likely needed to extra reps in practice putting Goddard a little behind in development, but Lester was smart enough to get him snaps in games early. I don't think we win the West next year, but the development will be seen. Look forward to see players like Arnett, Watson, Curtis, Sanders, Eskridge, Holley, Fayed, Hayward, Jackson, Jackson and Thomas as 4 year players for us. What underclassmen can we say we got a look at last year when we had a lot of chances to see them grow.

Wassink and Curtis got snaps last year. Not a ton, but still some even in significant situations.

A few garbage time snaps are not the difference between us having a 6-6 vs. 8-4 year.

Also, we probably don’t get the Cotton Bowl nod had we not poured it on and racked up the style points. That stuff matters.

Wassink never saw the field if I do remember.... and if he did he never threw the ball. Not even the true backup got in and passed the ball...

PJ used last year as his launching board... he had NO interest in continuing this train this year... And for good reason. He knew this was going to happen.

Your being gracious, you guys ran all over us today. Injuries are a part of it, certainly.
