Now if only he could stop getting blown out in bowl games and losing to crappy Boston College teams.

He should have started Santa all along.

213 yards of offense against this Nebraska defense is pretty weak too. Our offense is awful whenever we play any decent teams. Good thing that guy named Huff brought the wood today.

Now let's see if Carey can be really smart and keep Santa as the starter and give Huff the majority of the carries.

Wasn't Nebraska giving up over 400 yards of offense per game?

In the first 2 games Nebraska gave up over 1,000 yards of offense

Injuries also play a role. Had Santa been injured instead we would likely be in trouble.
When you have a team that lacks the depth of the good B1G programs you do have to tread lightly.

RE: FIRE CAREY!!!
Great win.

I figured 7 wouldn't waste any time coming on here to slurp Rod's rod.

Winning is a deodorant. This changes nothing for me when it comes to Carey.. Too many other problem games/areas to ignore. I will never understand the blind loyalty to Roderick that some on this board have. I don't think Rod does things so well or the results under him have been so great that it should be considered ludicrous to call him into question.

I love seeing the program do well. If that's under Rod, great. It sure hasn't been the last few years. I don't have to like him, and I don't....I just want NIU to win. And today they did.

A consistent coach often helps to bring stability to a FB program.
Should Carey win out the season and post season he will likely get a lucrative million $ coaching position somewhere else.

For a coach who has been at NIU for 5 or more years, he arguably has the best win/loss record. Getting a better coach might cost several million $ a year and is probably unrealistic at present.
Let's enjoy this win and be grateful for what we have.

RE: FIRE CAREY!!!
I can tell you I was about to light Carey a new one after this day. To not attack Nebraska's weakness in the secondary, and lose the game by small margin after the effort the D put out would have been a tragedy. Luckily they opened it up for 1 drive, and that's all it took. Can't argue with the scoreboard, Carey proves his critics including me idiots for a day, and glad to wear that idiot tshirt! Great Great Great win.
