Pappy's Predictions - #2
#2 - Georgia Southern

This is a program on the rise, and this could be the year.

POSITIVES: They can flat-out shoot the ball. Ike Smith and Tookie Brown are a double-barrelled threat that never lets up. Four players shot at least 150 times from the arc and made from 33% to 42% of them. They can put up points in a hurry as well as anyone in the Belt. They have a heavy advantage in steals.

NEGATIVES: This is a one-dimensional team. They shoot a lot of 3s and make a lot of 3s. Past that their options diminish pretty quickly. They have a lot of weapons in a narrow range. They are terrible on the boards and do not take very good care of the ball. They have no real size on the roster.

I think that is the "card up the sleeve" for us. Two 6-10 graduate
transfers. How often does a program like us get 2 bigs with 4 years of DI experience to walk through the door? If one pans out, we could be quite good. If both pan out, we could surprise a lot folks. Add them to an improved Oliver, we potentially have a front court that could do a lot of damage in this league.
