We handed Ga State and Maine $100 and now we are good. Seriously why doesn't Maine just play Ga State.
So why do we want a home game with Maine that will draw flies? Seriously.

Every game @ GA State draws flies.

Georgia State would probably rather have Memphis than Maine to get fans into the new stadium.

A. Maine is a flagship.
B. People love a flagship.
C. Give the people (Georgia State's 1 fan) what they want.

You're welcome.
Could schedule a sure win vs. UConn since we are talking NE flagships playing football poorly.

Hard to argue any game as a sure win after losing your FCS opener.

Over/under 5K at your next home game?
Yeah but Tennessee State > UConn

Would be great if this happened, good for the conference race and good for us viewers, I was looking forward to watching Memphis/UCF.

But AAC schools don't have lots of free money lying around to buy schools out, that's a hit to the budget for sure.

UCF AD mentioned insurance money for non played games, I imagine that would help with the cost.

I'm pretty sure they will take less money if we offer them an extra home game. 2 instead of 1.

Will be interesting to see how this develops. From what I hear within the last hour is that our position is " we have sold tickets and we intend to play our schedule"

you can bet that if i am the insurance company, i would be fighting tooth and nail about paying when there are questions about the decision making process leading to the cancelling of the games.

Doesn't matter if tickets are sold. If there is a buyout clause, and it is legally exercised, then there is nothing that can be done about it.

I hope the switch will occur. Assuming buy out clauses, the main obstacle is money I suppose. Unfortunately, we are not rich schools in a wealthy conference.

I expect that if the change does occur we end up with no game on 9/30 and Memphis and UCF pay through the nose in $$$ and games. There is next to zero incentive for us not to play Memphis on 9/30 as scheduled.

I have a feeling that if it were that simple we wouldn't be discussing this.

Yeah, I'd guess there's a deadline for the buyout back in the Spring sometime so the team being bought out would have time to find a replacement.

I wouldn't say there is zero incentive. You'd likely have one less loss, just to be honest, which could help you achieve bowl eligibility. Suggest you play Maine and count that win as your FCS win.

I do agree that Memphis and the AAC will pony up $$ to make it happen. This will happen, so may want to start coming to terms with that. Your stadium is fantastic, though!!! Seriously. I watched some of the Tenn St. game to check it out.

LOL!

What do you suppose the contract time limit is for cancellation PRIOR to the scheduled game?

I am betting Charlie Cobb is sitting at 755 Hank Aaron with a cat who ate teh canary grin. As I said, the fact that we are even discussing this likely indicates that it has to be negotiated outside of the contract.

It's gonna happen.

UCF, Memphis game postponed by Hurricane Irma highly likely to be rescheduled

UCF's game against Memphis called off due to Hurricane Irma is highly likely to be rescheduled, but the details have not yet been finalized, a source told the Orlando Sentinel.

The American Athletic Conference announced Thursday numerous league school schedules were being adjusted to help USF and UConn make up their game called off due to the storm. The release noted officials were working to reschedule the UCF-Memphis game.

A source told the Sentinel it is highly likely an agreement on the UCF game will soon be reached.

UCF could potentially play Memphis Sept. 30 when the Knights were going to face Maine, but that would still leave the team with a 10-game slate after the storm forced the cancellation of two games unless other accommodations can be made.

UCF is still striving to play 11 games this season, but athletics director Danny White told the Sentinel it would have to make sense for the Knights and not put them at a disadvantage as they push to win a conference title.

AAC Commissioner Mike Aresco told the Sentinel the league would do everything possible to help UCF with its scheduling problems.

the buyout for the GSU game is $800k PLUS GSU's expenses. that's a big check that the conference would have to write.
