It's on the Acadiana Flag, New Orleans flag, Quebec in Canada anywhere the French had influence it was used. It represents Cajun/Creole culture in Louisiana, and Louisiana in general.
It's like Texas and the star it represents Texas. Lone Star State, Marshalls, Sheriffs, and Cowboys, Texas culture in general.
Absolute love the fact both states have a symbol that identifies who they are, and what they represents.
