I remember one play in particular for Wolfe and the Bears. He caught the ball in the short flat, had a blocker who had a tackle engaged. Wolfe ran right past the defender except he stuck out his arm and stopped Wolfe in his tracks. Yes, a 1-arm tackle in the open field. To me that is the reason why he didn't have more success.

I agree. And it wouldn't surprise me if the Bears asked him to do other stuff that reduced his effectiveness. When they brought him in to training camp they threw the ball to him a bunch and said he didn't drop any. There were very few attempts even in pre-season games to throw him the ball though.

I dont think that's the reason. Wolfe excelled when facing top teams outside of the MAC. At #4 Michigan, 148 TDs on 17 carries and at #1 Ohio State 171yds on 26 carries. If you have talent you'll succeed at every level. It's as if he just was more tentative when he was running in the NFL.

Huh??? Wolfe ran a 4.39 40 at pro day. 2.51 20-yd dash and 1.46 10-yd dash, compared to 4.42, 2.59 and 1.54. And he had very good acceleration.

The difference is that the coaches then had no idea how to use a little guy. Plus the Bears had an atrocious offensive line when he was there.
