Irma aftermath causing more cancelations
Games have been canceled for this weekend due to Irma, they include FIU@ Indiana,
GaTech@UCF, and a postponement of Miami@FSU. All this is happening while Bethune-Cookman is playing at FAU.... So another round of changes that show no sign of consistency.

Also, the Miami@FSU game is causing a change in schedule to the GaTech-Miami game later in the season.

With all these canceled games, it could get really confusing come bowl season on who is eligible and who isn't.

Not every area was affected equally nor in s every team in the same situation.

Georgia Southern has been closed since last Thursday and will not resume classes until this coming Monday. Irma has messed up a lot of Georgia. An estimated 10k people are still without power.

Maybe. A lot of trees down in Atlanta Metro which is a city in a forest to begin with. A lot of massive oaks took out power lines on side streets. I was without power for 30 hours. Some on side streets even further from main roads still do not have power. As of 6PM 262k Georgia Power customers are still without power.

Mine finally came back Tuesday night.

Bibb County schools won't open up till Monday because of some schools within the district are still without power. Not to mention that many Macon residents are also without power. Never would have thought a Hurricane would keep Mid Ga schools out of school for a week.

There are way more than 10k without power just looking at the outage map now. It will be into next week before power is restored everywhere.

I got power back this morning, but northeast GA got hit extremely hard.

Thought that sounded way low. We had 320K outages in greater Corpus Christi and there are still about 9K without power 2+ weeks later.

There were 262k out at 6PM ET last night. They didnt connect a quarter of a million customers last night. I got an alert this morning that GP is looking to have 90% restored by Sunday Night.

RE: Irma aftermath causing more cancelations
There are parts of Georgia that I predict will not have power until the weekend of the 23rd. If you have GA Power you'll get it restored quicker, but there are a ton of local EMCs with limited equipment, there isn't much they can do in some of these places until it dries out. Boom trucks help, but only so much and some of the rural areas over the creek bottoms are ripped up where the trees were blown over. Driving today from my house to Milledgeville, a 40 mile drive ... I counted well over 25 spots along GA22 where the lines are down and mangled by trees, with over 5 poles completely snapped off. There is one stretch at least 3 miles long completely down. That's just getting the distribution line back, not any secondaries or feeds to individual parcels.

There was a crew based out of NY working it though. I'm sure it's a favor returned from the Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts.

I was, of course, referring to the fact that there are now 388 bowls and everyone gets to play, even North Texas State, but that's another matter.

Speaking of Ole Miss and sanctions, did the NCAA finally close that investigation and levy sanctions, or is Ole Miss not eligible because they've already withdrawn from consideration?

They are still waiting on the NCAA, they self imposed the bowl ban for this year hoping to get it over with.

What about 5-6 teams? I read an article (underdog dynasty I believe) that said there is no automatic waiver for those teams with cancelled games. It said Irma could be beneficial for Coastal if we get 6 wins but I'm thinking the NCAA will grant a waiver to schools with cancelled games.

The 5 win teams with canceled games should get approval to be picked first of the 5 won teams before they start using APR for bowl invites.

But 6 win teams, including Coastal should be before them.

Ok, self-imposted bowl ban is more accurate than sanctions.

They had to replace 2000 poles in Corpus alone. We had lineman from all over. I even saw a PSE&G one. That's NJ.
