RE: Bye Bye Heart of Dallas - Hello Armed Forces Bowl
Maybe the thought process was that the Big 10 was unlikely to send a team, whereas Army is likely to get bowl eligible after starting 2-0.

Playing Army for the reward for a good season doesn't move my needle at all.

I like the way you think but believe you give this leadership way too much credit to be that strategically savvy. Also, we haven't yet seen any indication that C-USA gets to back fill the HOD against the Big 12 if the Big 10 can't fill it.

for the noobs, I really don't have a lot of sympathy. This crap league is still better than any other league you've ever been in. The 5 of us who've been here a while... what can you say. We fell off a cliff.
More like pushed off.

You're right. I cannot imagine the feeling of having a football program for over 120 years and this being as far as you've gotten. I've got plenty of sympathy for you.

RE: Bye Bye Heart of Dallas - Hello Armed Forces Bowl
Today I called the C-USA offices. If you have never done that, you should give it a try. It is a very sobering experience and will go a long way towards gaining an understanding of how poorly this conference is run.
The call was quickly answered by an automated recording that instructed me to choose an option from their directory or press 0 to speak with a operator. Then the line went completely quiet. No directory options to choose from. After a few second, I pressed 0, and a nice lady answered the phone. I asked her if C-USA was going to issue a statement regarding the recent loss of the HOD. She began to stutter and asked if I could be put on hold. I agreed. After a minute or two, she returned to the line and told me she would be transferring me to Russ Anderson their communications director. I said, thank you, and was transferred. The phone rang again and was quickly answered by an answering machine.....
I hung up.
They didn't want to speak to me. Someone at that office could have answered my questions. She had to know which people were in the office. Our conference is run by amateurs. We are well into day two and I have yet to see an explanation posted on the C-USA website.
If you want to try and get an answer here is the C-USA phone number: 214-774-7539
Good luck.

You should try contacting the Belch office in New Orleans.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong:
When the Conference made their announcement about the basketball tournaments moving to Frisco, the only video coverage was streamed through facebook. They never posted it on youtube. And worst of all, the "big" announcement is not even in HD......instead, we get blurry footage a mile from the podium. That simple crime alone tells you this conference is run by clowns

So do you care to point out to me the P5 school Marshall has played in bowl games? Now before being foolish and saying UofL you really need to think about it for a split second. Let me answer that for you...twice and neither time in the HOD bowl

2014 Marshall vs Northern Illinois
2013 Marshall vs Maryland
2011 Marshall vs Florida International

2004 Marshall vs Cincinnati
2002 Marshall vs Louisville
2001 Marshall vs East Carolina
2000 Marshall vs Cincinnati
1999 Marshall vs Brigham Young
1998 Marshall vs Louisville
1997 Marshall vs Ole Miss

Come on your response here is just flat out silly. A person answered the phone and connected you to the communications director. Just as a operator should do.
This person was not in the office. For all you know he could have been taking a ****. Instead of leaving a message you hang up. And your response...
"They didn't want to speak to me"
You might, I repeat, might, have a point if you left a message and did not receive a return call. That's on you.
As for the operator had to know who was in the office. Why would someone at the front desk or maybe not even in the same building know this? A lot of call operators are sourced out so a company does not have to pay benefits or $15 a hour on a $8 a hour job.
This conference like, probably all, G5 conference is having problems. But you are making way more of this than needs to be. As I said...
leave a freaking message if its that important for you to call in the first place. People just go out of their way to get offended today.

lol. nice comeback. im pretty sure you're just sticking it to that guy and his post, but there is a lot of truth in your statement. puts things in perspective. it really is embarrassing and a terrible feeling for teams like USM.

Does anyone know what these geniuses are paid?
Love to see it posted for all to see here. I remember Banowsky was getting a huge check for destroying CUSA back in the day.

CUSA is one of the biggest scams in sport at this point. The institution members (School Presidents) need to wake the heck up and demand more, get some CUSA officials fired or simply dissolve / exit this crap conference.

If it's more than $9 / hr and a lifetime membership to the Jelly of the Month Club....it's too damned much.

Seems like I remember the previous AH of a commissioner making more than Mike Slive did as the commissioner of the SEC. There was a big stink about it at one time. He seemed to be aiding defectors from the conference rather than fighting aggressively to counter the raids.
