Wassink has a broken collarbone
Per the press conference for CMU, 6-8 weeks. Maybe back for a bowl game.

Good luck Goddard!

Just a fluke injury, really. Our protection has been pretty good this season for the most part. It looked like on the play Wassink get hurt on somebody missed the block on the LBer due to a a missed assignment. Those have been rare this season. Unfortunate luck, but it is what it is.

Shame. Goddard was highly recruited he's next man up. Get ready for 8 in the box. We need to mix it up with short passes to keep them honest. I see Darius doing the double next Weds. It's now!

We likely in mid/late Dec bowl. Don't see Jon coming back. Why risk it for 2018?

The actual hit looked rather innocuous... The replays however showed the trade-mark move that ends with collarbone breaks... Too bad for Jon... but last time we had to throw a green bean frosh in there... it was Terrell... great experience for him that led to him winning the starting position for the remainder of his career at WMU... We all know how that eventually worked out! 04-rock

I feel like Mr. Ernsberger and our bigger WR targets on shorter routes will be money off of Play Action. Let's go Reece!!

I think Reece may be more of a dual threat from what we saw at the end of the Eastern game. There's not a lot of it on film yet, so, maybe we can catch a few teams sitting back or overplaying the running back.

Just need to fight off predictability and I think we'll be ok. Goddard will need to prove that he can be dangerous in the offense. Whether it's running the ball like the end of the Eastern game, or airing it out and keeping the linebackers and defensive backs honest. I don't care. The Bronco's need to be at least a little balanced to win the games down the stretch.

Lester in the presser said Goddard was a gunslinger and he's going to let him gunsling. I guess it's a different mentality from protecting Wassink's confidence, since realistically Goddard has two more seasons of understudy play until starting, unless things change.

I do miss me some Alex Carder!

We can't have the QB running too much or we risk injury again. Who's next up, Mussat?

Defenses have already been playing us with at least 8 in the box. Then, when we are in conspicuous passing down, they adjust accordingly, and we generally do just as they expect and hope. Doubt it with change.

If we want to help a young QB get confidence and success, let's give him some 7-10 yard throws on those downs when the defense has the box loaded. What QB doesn't love to throw when the D is expecting a run. Then after they realize we may throw, and start adjusting, or disguising defenses, unleash the talented backs we have, and watch them work when the D isn't certain what we might do.

Agreed. The number for me is 5-8 carries. Enough to show it and need to gameplan for it. Hopefully half a dozen true read options keeps the running game fresh enough to stay efficient.

You do realize that if defenses are playing "8 in the box" to stop our running game - that means they are playing Man-To-Man on our receivers, that makes "7-10 yard throws" more difficult unless our receivers are better than the DBs covering them and our QB has to be able to throw more pinpoint passes?

Not to mention of course if defenses are blitzing because we now have an inexperienced QB trying throw to nobody that is Corey Davis.
