Oh, you've seen the two freshmen in practice?

Name another MAC team with great depth at the QB position.

I'd wager there aren't any whose 3 deep consists of a sophomore who never took a game snap and 2 true freshmen.

One would think the greatest recruiter in MAC history would have a stable of top QBs and WRs. Miami is knee deep. BSU in good shape. EMU has a kid waiting in the wings who had 20 offers.

Say what you want about Cubit, he always stocked the QB position.

In one year he had

Perish- Ended up starting at ISU
Maddie- Started NIU
Carder
Terrell
VanTubbergan

All ended up being starting QBs. We have 1 soph, and two true freshmen.

Cubit was great with QB's, and was a very good coach overall. I liked his offenses a lot. I liked him too.

Cubit was a great coach and a great guy, but it was time for a change. When he started his injured QB Alex Carder the last two games of the 2012 season he signaled he was ready to go. We lost both those winnable games, to Buffalo and to EMU. Could have ended 8-4, instead we ended 6-6 and Cubit was packing his bags.

Generally agree with your analysis Dip, but let's not overlook Mussat. He's listed at the # 2 QB and came out of Illinois. As Napoleon Dynamite said, he has 'skills'.

Cubit's last year, we were 4-8, losing to EMU to cap it off. If we were 6-6, he probably would have gotten another try since there weren't any good coaching prospects out there sticking out.

He did bring good QB prospects. Which have been key to our success since Darnell times.

Ya'll forgot one other Good QB: Hiller. Who replaced another QB -- who wasn't bad but not all that great -- Ryan Cubit. Thankfully Cubit got injured and Hiller took over and lit Jennings up.

1 roster (from 5 years ago) out of 12 teams (60 rosters total). 04-clap2

2012 guys = modern day comparison
Perish (FCS transfer) = Chance Stewart
Maddie (D1 transfer that never panned out) = Flacco
Carder (long-time starter that had a shot in the NFL) = Terrell
Terrell (young up and coming QB) = Wassink
TVT (backup that eventually saw the field) = Goddard/Riddle

You're so wrong 03-phew

Perish didn't go DII like Stewart. He started immediately and was very successful at ISU.

Maddie was ten times as effective at NIU as Flacco was here. Maddie had 336 yards vs us before getting hurt. Flacco's best game ever was 64 yards through the air.

TVT threw 3 TDs in a road win over CMU. He equals Goddard and Riddle????

You're drunk on that Mancrush Berry Kool-Aid again

The comparison is that they both left (transferred) to lower level programs.

Again.. comparison is that neither of them could ever quite cut it here and both transferred to another D1 program. It's a stretch to say Maddie had a wildly successful career at NIU. Flacco's success at Rutgers is obviously TBD.

Follow me here... I'm using TVT as an example of what Goddard or Riddle could be down the road as upperclassmen once one of them gets their shot. It's not unreasonable to think there's a future starting QB on our roster buried on the depth chart (that's what TVT was behind Carder) who's at least as talented as TVT was.
