Temple coach
Hey there AAC, the new coach at Temple is a distant family friend, I was just wondering how you felt he is doing and general opinion of him?

Too soon to tell. New coach, new QB makes this a challenging season.

RE: Temple coach
-I felt like he gave people zero info as far as how things were looking this summer. Just went into the ND game with no idea what to expect.
-He completely bungled the QB situation in every facet. We were told as many as three QBs could play against ND. He played one. He played the one that is likely the 3rd or 4th best right now. He played the QB most of us expected to either be the backup or transfer to an FCS program. The whole 3 QBs thing was just gamesmanship, and it basically goes against everything Philly and Temple are about. He then started that same QB against Nova, and didn't play any of the other QBs. To be fair, our starting QB has played fine, and has not had the deer-in-headlights look that most QBs would with nearly zero experience. The problem is he isn't good enough to win games.
-The whole purpose of our starting QB, Logan Marchi, is that he's a dual threat. The problem is that the game plan against ND was for Marchi to not run very much so he didn't get hit. It's very soft, again, goes against the Philly and Temple mindset, and is inexplicably stupid in terms of football. That didn't change against Nova either. The entire offensive game plan hasn't really made any sense. We have significant talent at WR, and we've been close to 50/50 run/pass. Situationally, the playcalling has been really, really bad.
-In-game coaching has been poor. Very few adjustments. Team making stupid penalties. Team not recognizing patterns exhibited by the other team in order to stop them.
-Very young and inexperienced LB corps that is simply too small. OL has a lot more experience, but hasn't really been good. DL is mostly smaller than it should be and has been kinda hit or miss at best. He made a major mistake not finding JUCO or grad transfers to plug in holes at LB, OL, and DE/DT.
-Too much swag and bull****, and in general, just not looking like a team that has its **** together.

Also, I don't know how I forgot it, but instead of a traditional depth chart, he does this stupid above the line report, which basically is the position groupings of the players they feel are good enough to play that given week. It's so completely absurd.

First time HC, with a first time starting QB, lost seven defensive starters, this Temple fan is willing to let the man figure things out. Defense is a big concern as is running game, which is strange since the OL pass blocks well but struggles with run blocking.

I like the thought process, me and my brother hold to a give them 4 years mantra; by the fourth year they should have everything as they want it and therefore should be doing well

^This^
Also he came in as a defensive guru but not really not seeing signs of that yet. It takes a year to grasp all the aspects of a complex job. I think he gets a pass this year from most fans.

JHG has turned on a Temple Employee/Player/Philosophy after 8 days....and the sun will rise tomorrow
Collins, like his 3 predecessors, will turn this job into a payday and JHG will love on him until he fails to hire him and answers all his personal emails

Well, he's having issues and may be underperforming. That is everything that Philly is all about.
