Bucknell - Game 3
Home opener, family weekend, should be a pretty full house. Defense is playing great, offense can keep getting some momentum.

Bucknell is a team we should roll over. Here's hoping the home opener is a happy one.

This week's game notes has an interesting interview with DL Stephens. Didn't know he had a kid and is planning to become a nurse if NFL does not work out. Wish him the best luck.

We have Gunnar Frerotte listed as our holder now instead of McKee. Hopefully this will be the cause of even more Redskins nostalgia on these boards.

Only if he concusses himself running into the stadium after a score.

The injuries to Durant, Wimmer and Christian are obviously more than "minor"...three missed games
is more than a quarter of the regular season. Hopefully we get them back for the CAA games.

We'll have a decent group of 5-10 of us. Tailgating in the Hall lot, per usual. Hoping for good weather and good play calling.

RE: Bucknell - Game 3
The team is progressing well. Last week's game was good. While the score was closer than I thought it would be, the game was never in doubt. Many younger players got some reps in game experience, which will pay dividends should any of our starters get banged up in league play. I would expect the same this week. The depth chart is talented, the only way a coach can know what they can truly do is with game experience. These non-conference games against teams we should beat are a great opportunity for that.

As everyone has stated the defense is performing very well. Every unit is getting it done, but I am partial to linebackers. I love the speed and the way they are flying around the field. We will need that as we prepare for more speed against CAA opponents.

Not sure what to think about this Bucknell team. They blow out Marist then get shut out by Holy Cross.

I'm hoping for a win, no additional injuries, then a bye week that should allow a few of our currently injured players to get to 100%.

The fact that some of the injured players are not returning for this game tells me that the staff is confident in the group they will be putting on the field and there is no need to rush a player back and possibly get them re-injured.

My guess is that a little more of the playbook will be called, but not much.

I think it's at least worth noting that Jimmye said the injuries to Durant and Wimmer were not major. I'd expect to see them back in conference play.

RE: Bucknell - Game 3
I would anticipate that JL would hold off until 9/30 and CAA play before throwing any injured player back to quickly.

Question though on Funderburke. Is her ever coming back??

Knee ligaments are not something you want to rush, especially for a RB where strong knees are required. Typically it's right around a year to be back to full for a contact sport. From pictures and newspaper, he was participating in pre-season but it was limited and non-contact. My completely uninformed guess would be first or second conference game.

Wonder why JL put Nate Evans in late stage of NSU game. Maybe it has something to do with Funderburke's recovery.

Obviously they wanted him to have the experience, and he showed well. Looked at home and showed good burst. I doubt it had anything to do with Funderburke's recovery. Hopefully we see Albert, Durant, Wimmer and Alex Purviance on the field soon.

RE: Bucknell - Game 3
Could it be that he was auditioning Evans to see if it might be prudent to hold Funderburke out for the possibility of a medical redshirt to give him ample time to heal fully?
