Looking forward to hosting you guys this weekend. We think we are drastically improved and played decent at Memphis, but still aren't sure how good or bad we are with our game cancelled against FSU. Sucks not having another game before we play y'all, but on the positive side we have more time to prepare for USM, didn't add any injuries, and gave some guys injured in fall camp time to get back. How many people do y'all think will make the trip to Monroe? If anyone needs any suggestions for restaurants, hotels, or things to do, let me know. I remember my last ULM (NLU) - USM game in 1987. NLU and Stan Humphries beat USM and Brett Favre on our way to the 1-AA National Championship. Hope for another great game!

Should be a good crew coming up. At least of folks my age (recent grad). The alumni association is hosting a tailgate at the End Zone in Sterlington which is owned by Southern Miss alums. I always like road games at a school I haven't been to. Looking forward to the short trip over there.

Are there any hotels that I should actively try to avoid for any reason?

Cool! I actually live in Frenchman's Bend right near the EndZone. I can't really think of any to avoid, but would either stay on the interstate in West Monroe or by Pecanland Mall at the Courtyard Marriott or one the hotels there, which is closer to campus.

Good deal. I shall look into those places. I'm hoping for a good game and am certainly looking forward to the easy drive as I'm in Jackson, MS. Where's your must stop hangover lunch establishment to get me through the drive home?

I would go to Cotton downtown on the river for brunch. It's very Mississippi Delta/Cajun inspired food. They have an excellent brunch with stuff like boudin stuffed pork loin, crawfish Mac n cheese, chicken and dumplings, fried okra, fried chicken, omelette station, carving station, etc. they also have bottomless mimosas for $15. The brunch is $18 I think. The chef that started the restaurant is Cory Bahr who won the show Chopped, was just on another show on Food Network, etc. Really good place.
