First win at ODU since 1977! Team now 11-4 with sixth consecutive victory.
Tribe, 3-0 in CAA, plays at #8 defending National Champion, Delaware next Friday night in showdown of the two CAA undefeated teams.

Huge win for the Tribe over ODU -- historically the state's best program -- in field hockey.
Field hockey may be the best sports team on campus this school year.

Hell, historically the nation's best program. Still the most national titles in history.

RE: Tribe Field Hockey
Ladies clinched at least third place in CAA yesterday at Drexel with a solid 2-0 lead in which they dominated and outshot the Dragons 22-6 for the game. Team now 12-5 and 4-1 in the CAA.
One big game left at home at 6 PM Friday evening against JMU. Win that one and we should finish at least second with an outside shot at a tie for first.
A wonderful season to date for this team; they are ranked #18 currently and two seasons of superior recruiting have paid off.

They have gotten the best Field Hockey player out of Richmond, for the past two or three years.

Lost 2-1 to the Dukes. JMU scored with just 3 minutes left in the game to win

We need another good year of recruiting as we graduate many of offensive leaders on the team. Coach Ellis has done a marvelous job.

Greta Nauck is truly a one-woman team. She was the single-handed difference in the game. Tribe competed but Delaware was better.
Delaware did a similar thing a few years back when they had Elena Delle Donne in women's basketball. One stellar awesome player can truly make a difference -- for years. It also reminds me of how a very good Tribe football team lost to Central Florida in the playoffs. UCF was led by a QB named Daunte Culpepper. He turned out to be pretty good in the NFL.

I think we have a real ahot at an at large bid. It'll all depend on how the other conference tournaments shake out

We lost to UCF in the playoffs in 1990.
We lost to UCF in the regular season opener against Daunte Culpepper in 1996 in their first games as an FBS (then 1-A) team.
We did not lose to Daunte Culpepper in the playoffs.

Oops, sorry. Thanks for clarifying. The decades are running together now ........

Tribe left out of the tournament. There are 8 at large berths. 5 went to the ACC and 3 to the Big Ten (not counting those two leagues' automatic qualifiers).
Even so, CONGRATULATIONS TO THE FIELD HOCKEY TEAM FOR A GREAT SEASON!!!!

RE: Tribe Field Hockey
Tribe went 0-3 against the ACC, including a loss to BC who went winless in the ACC.
So, while I was ready to rant and rave, hard to argue with the decision to take ACC schools over the Tribe.
Purdue doesn't have a field hockey team (conserving their money for hoops! :-). ), so can't really comment re: Big Ten, but Tribe did beat Michigan, at Michigan, and Michigan is the national #3 seed with only two losses on the year.
