RE: It
I love Stephen King's books, and IT was my favorite book. I was an adult when the movie IT was on TV for the first time (SyFy channel originally - or back when they were SciFi). When I was a kid, the Stephen King TV movie that scared the sh!t out of me was Salem's Lot. The scene where the kid floats to the window and taps on it was the scene that did me in. I had to sleep with my older brother for 2 years after watching that movie.

Yup. I read all of his books as a teenager. That scene from Salem's Lot messed me up for a while too.

I try to separate reality from movie fantasy. I don't care what's happening on the outside as long as the I enjoy the movie. Life is better that way, IMO.

Love Kings books. Hate his personal views. Does scatter his views throughout all his books though and you just have to shrug it off and enjoy the book.

Funny thing about the boycott. The Trumpers want to see it too and didn't want to deny themselves so were just asking for everyone to not see it opening week. Double epic fail.

Rose Red creeped me out. Perfect casting across the board.

I wonder why that is.

I don't think you get scared as easily as an adult, but I think it's easier to be disturbed and made anxious. Kids get scared of the obvious, shallow stuff: a killer clown, a killer doll, ghosts, slashers, etc. Adults are able to put all of the deeper concepts of horror together and that makes for a different, harder-hitting sensation. Instead of scaring you, it makes you worry.

Stephen King is very good at disturbing and so is his son (Joe Hill). Chuck Palahniuk has written a few that have stuck with me: Guts and Rant stick out.
