General Douglas MacArthur on the day before the actual signing of the WWII

Surrender Agreement in September 1945.

Telegrams were expensive. Senders never included any unnecessary words.

Truman and MacArthur eventually grew to hate one another, but I think they were still on speaking terms in Sept'45.

Harry Truman kept an extensive diary during most of his adult life. Anybody who'd like to know what "politically incorrect" *Really* sounded like in 1920s-'50s is invited to read a few pages. But don't show the progressives. They'll start demanding his statues come down, his name be taken off of buildings, etc.

Am I the only one who thought of this scene from Back to School when they read the OP?
