USF plays at UConn. It looks like Irma may still be over Cuba on Saturday. Travel arrangements are probably more of an issue than actual gameday/playing conditions.

RE: Irma schedule moves
Wouldn't it be more safe just to move these games and play at a neutral site?

Very unlikely that game will get played. FIU and Alcorn do not share a common off-date the rest of the season, and seemingly the only possible date would be December 2nd, the weekend of the conference title games, but that's the date of the SWAC title game, which Alcorn has played in the last three years and is a favorite to do so again, and also the C-USA title game.

So they could only play it that day if both teams are not in their CCGs, which likely won't be known until very late in the season, thus preventing advanced scheduling. And since the only real point of the game is as a tuneup for both team's conference schedules, which would be over by then, it will be pointless to play it.

IOW's, unless they find a new site to play the game at this weekend, it ain't happening.

really depending on track, only one that couldn't get played is the FIU game which they already ppd. Orlando Friday night shouldn't be bad. Gainesville Saturday shouldn't be too bad. Miami already playing on the road.

Timing on this pretty good for games to not get cancelled. 1 day later and yeah huge issues.

If that's the situation, I expect more cancels and moves. Fans far away from danger may be frustrated, but no decision maker will ever get fired for erring on side of caution and moving or canceling a game. But if he counts on a hurricane arriving one day later and it arrives one day sooner and there is a massive mess or worse, people get injured because game wasn't canceled, his head will roll immediately plus be pilloried in the media, etc.

RE: Irma schedule moves
the impacts in Gainesville or Orlando really won't be felt until Saturday night at the very earliest. So especially with UCF won't be an issue at all playing on Friday night. Florida on Saturday plays at 730pm. That'll be something to kind of watch I suppose- although I think the models recently have had it going further and further east.

I agree with your logic, but it comes across as calm and analytical - a good thing to be when using logic, btw! But, the situation on the ground in Florida is one of panic and high alert, it's emotional, so expect more games to move or be canceled, regardless of what the dispassionate computer models say.

Heck, I'm working on a research project with a professor at USF-Sarasota, he lives in Bradenton, Florida. We were supposed to have a conference call early Friday, but that's been cancelled because his wife insists they evacuate the state now. That's how things are.
