RE: College Football Imperialism Map - THEYRE COMING!
First off, this is awesome and big props to whoever started this.

Also, I never realized how big of a footprint Marshall actually has not only in WV, but in OH and KY. We didn't actually gain much from beating Miami because all we gained was the area around Oxford OH, but this is a really cool map. Lots of USTA as well.

College Football Imperialism Map - THEYRE COMING!
I like the concept but I have one question. Oklahoma owns UTEP's area, UTSA doesn't play Oklahoma but if UTSA beats UTEP, do they take the area? Or, does it stay in Oklahoma's area until they lose? But if Oklahoma loses, their scalps go to the victor over Oklahoma?

I think UTEP would have to win more area back for there to be something for you to take. So say they beat Rice then you beat them, you'd get Houston but El Paso would still belong to OU. Assuming they themselves didn't lose. The only way for them to take El Paso back is to beat OU or whoever owns it at the time. So if you could build a great dynasty and lose the last game and end with nothing. Just a guess though. Fun idea.

One thing that puzzles me is why does the guy/gal who created this think that JMU has a massive share in eastern carolina? Just because ECU was taken to woodshed by JMU? huh

From what I understand, this is less about actual human input and more about numbers and the transitive property. If we were to beat UMass next week, we'd take their land. The land stays the same, only the graphics change. It is a nifty map that changes the colors and graphics of predetermined "footprints" based on who beats who and when.

**Read his caveat about FCS teams and then look at who is currently in play in Nevada

Because they won it....

that is what the map is about.

Someone said a team owns that land till they lose it to another school by getting beat. That is where the map falls apart if that is the case.

Next week a school could beat ECU and not gain anything if that were the case. It's possible to win all 12 games and not gain and land. If the team you beat loss the week before. I think it's more like GoT....

when you beat a team you get that land no matter if someone else beats you and owns it. Other words you are now the army and fighting for the king that took it from you. So if you fall again so does the king you are fighting for.

At least I assume that is the thinking behind this. But fully admit I'm probably wrong.

So if you aren't the first team to beat another team, you really don't gain anything? For instance, if by some miracle we beat NCST Saturday, they have no area to claim because USC (east) already took it.

RE: College Football Imperialism Map - THEYRE COMING!
If you click the reddit link it explains it in the post. Only FBS teams start with land but FCS teams can win land. The land is divided based on which school the county is closest too. The question about JMU is that the closest school to all of those counties is ECU, which JMU now owns. Basically if the team you beat has no land you don't gain anything that week. If your team loses they lose all land currently owned by the team. The following week if they beat a team that owns land they take that land, they just wont own their home turf unless they beat someone who took it over. It is going to be updated from week to week throughout the season.

It stays in Oklahoma's area... and whoever beats Oklahoma would get to claim it.
