A family friend from TN was in Orlando this week. Took something like 40 hours to drive back home.

Good to hear you are ok Green!!! From what I've heard & seen, the majority of Florida needs to be declared a national disaster area. So much damage literally all over the state.

My plans are to leave Thursday to go down and prepare my family's property and get a 14 passenger van to get my kids and grandkids and drive to northern Georgia or Tennessee to ride out the storm. All you folks in Florida, please be safe as this storm will be no joke if it hits as a Cat 5 on the expected path.

Stay safe cuseroc, I had friends from Houston staying with me until this week. Safety & survival are your main goals.

Thanks for the goodwill. But I didnt go down. My kids are currently in Troy Alabama. We took some advice from folks about driving up to Tennessee. Now the problem is finding hotel rooms because everything is sold out with Bama having a game this weekend and the Florida refugees. They may have to drive to Mississippi. Even though I didnt go down I cant believe how much time I have have had to devote to getting them out and finding hotels. everything is sold out. We dont know what to expect when they get back home.

I did end up going down to Atlanta to meet my family there. We got there early Saturday morning. and left Monday morning to come back to WNY. We left Atlanta just in time as it was raining pretty hard and ahead of the winds. My son told me that they lost power in Atlanta at my cousins home, and gas stations have no gas in Atlanta.

On the way back on I-75, I saw a convoy of about 30 military vehicles heading south. Then about an hour later in Kentucky, I saw a convoy of power and light trucks heading south, as well as many fuel transport trucks. So help is on the way.

RE: OT- Huricane Irma
Heavy winds dropped a huge oak tree from my neighbor's yard on my back porch. I believe the deck is OK but the roof is destroyed along with the table we had back there. The crown of the tree is on the roof, know there's a little shingle damage but until the tree company gets here to get the tree off we don't know the full extent of the damage.

Neighbor said they would help with deductible since it came off their property. I guess he figures I've probably saved him a couple thousand dollars over the years fixing his small engines and doing minor repairs that it's the right thing to do.
