RE: Coaches Poll Week 2
Proof positive it's time to put these things down for good (the coaches). NCSU loses to SC, still has more votes than SC. Pitt should have lost to Youngstown State, but still receives votes; has more than either of those two combined.

Dang, they didn't give much love to the winner or the loser of Tech/WVU. Guess WVU will have to earn its way back in the old fashioned way - winning.

Oklahoma State actually drops a spot in the AP after dominating Tulsa.

It's so dumb. WVU was ranked one spot behind VT, and the game was tied until late in the 4th with both teams looking good. Clearly the teams were very close, and the original rankings very well might have been right on the money.

RE: Week 2 Polls
The only poll that really matters in the CFP era is the CFP poll. The AP poll is nice to have during the year, as well, but it essentially means diddly-squat. The coaches' poll is useless. It is known that many coaches listed on the poll don't even do the actual voting nor do they watch or pay attention to most if any games beyond their own (and maybe their conference rivals.)

That being said, preseason polls are crap as there is (almost) zero objectivity to the voting. Sure #1 Alabama beat then #3 Florida St 24-7. But what if Florida St doesn't win a game this season? That first game win then doesn't mean anything.

RE: Week 2 Polls
preseason polls do a pretty damn good job in predicting things...

in the 3 years of the playoffs-
2014- 3/4 teams in the top 4 made playoff, along with #5
2015- 1/4 teams in top 4 made playoff, along with #5,12,19
2016- 2/4 teams in top 4 made playoff, along with #6,14

so 6/12 teams in top 4 in the 3 years made the playoff, and 9/12 of the teams that made the playoffs were in the AP top 6 preseason. So it's a pretty good indicator IMO.
