This is a problem that happens all across the nation. Winning or losing, students leave the student section at half to go drink more, get ready for a party, go eat, etc.

Correct, they've always left and always probably will. Not all, but a lot. My point on that was that the students weren't the ones who left the upper decks vacant. Those top four corners are historically empty. It's sad, but true. I'm sure part of that has to do with the fact that they're terrible seats.

How do you get more people to come? Big question. I will admit I didn't go for personal health reasons but did go out with the wife to get a little supper at the half. Every place we went from west Hattiesburg to Sully's was packed. Ended up going to Cracker Barrel where I swear there was 40 people with USM gear on eating. If 10% of those were convinced to buy a ticket to the game we would be sold out every week.

unfortunately, people have to stay in the tailgate areas because thieves rob unattended tailgate sites.... i don't mean just taking a sandwich or a beer.... i mean chairs, ice chests, grills, etc.
