All other teams are officially out of contention unless crazy things happen. SBC/CUSA/MAC teams can't afford even a single loss.

I don't think anyone from our league has a chance unless they go undefeated as well as the mw. So that takes care of app Troy astate and Wyoming. Only two with an actual chance is Boise jr college and south Florida.

Yep, they are included with the P5 conferences in the CFP contract. Other independents aren't eligible for the G5 spot.

I'm pretty underwhelmed with both Wyoming and WKU. Iowa's not that great and EKU is a mediocre FCS team.

Just last week people were gushing over Colorado State, and now look, no one is mentioning them.

I told you guys that this was going to be a fairly wide-open Access Bowl race, and nothing I've seen so far has changed that. Don't see a single G5 team that I am confident is going to run away with the race.

Not necessarily. You don't have to be undefeated to make to a NY6 bowl. It's just simply the highest ranked G5 team.

I don't see USF or Boise State going undefeated, despite having strong teams. Both teams have issues to resolve, and Boise has a pretty tough schedule.

It bodes well for Troy, App, and StAte that there losses are at the beginning of the season. If either one of them goes on a tear and finishes 11-1, they will be ranked in the Top 25 and have a chance at the NY6 Bowl.

Heck, if Troy had gone 11-1 last season and WMU dropped a game, there's a good chance Troy could have gotten the NY6 bowl bid.

I think that App would have to win out our remaining schedule in dominating fashion while Georgia also continued to play very strong for us to even have a remote chance of sneaking into the top 25 this year. A few other things (teams above us losing while teams on our schedule climbing the SOS scale) before it would happen. I expect App to have a good year and I'm going to enjoy it but I don't think this is the year we crack the top 25.

IIRC, Notre Dame and BYU are considered P7's, just slightly below the mighty P6 AAC.

The P5 conferences consider both ND and BYU as being on the P5 level, look at how the B1G treats them when their teams schedules BYU. Just saying

I think we are more likely to see a P4 / G6 than the other way around...
