RE: 2 thumbs up Subway
I thought this thread was about an accident with the meat slicer at Subway. One thumb in my sandwich would be bad enough but two would make it harder to eat that sandwich.

Its hilarious to suggest they are.

You jump in a car that is 130 degress and make 500 laps at Bristol at speeds of 135 mph driving INCHES away from 39 other cars doing the same thing.

It's hilarious when I see a person who doesn't know what they are talking about prove it for everyone to see.

We clearly have very different definitions of athlete.

I don't consider driving a car really fast in a circle to be an "athletic" competition.

If it takes endurance and physical fitness, quick reflexes and hand eye coordination to last 4 hrs in that car I would say he is an athlete.

Are bowlers athletes?

How bout table tennis players?

How bout curlers?

All 3 of those sports have been in the Olympics.

Sorry, driving a car is simply not an athletic competition imo.

It may be very difficult and dangerous, but its still not an athletic competition.

It's kinda like a mix of demolition derby and rollerball in a car.

Some of those rollerball ladies are toughAF. I saw them in our 4th of July parade

Motorsport definitely requires athleticism in single-seaters.

Elsewhere, you can get by without being athletic but it's not common.

I will say that Saint Jesus's WHYCOME YALL CALLING NASCAR DRIVERS ATHLETES argument might go over better if he would explain why it matters that NASCAR competes primarily on ovals.

I noticed you didn't answer my question about the mentioned sports.

There's a huuuge difference.

There are many genres with highly paid competitions.

I brought up video games because the same skills are required to play these games as are required to drive the cars well.

There is a story on ESPN about a kid won a video game competition in a racing game which translated extremely well to racing in professional competition

But nothing translates to the real thing.

So much of what a racing driver relies on is literally the feel of the seat while cornering.

Video games can only get you so far.

There is nothing physical required to to play video games and the temperature in your room isn't 130 and the g forces are only simulated.

Is a 360 lb. lineman who's belly laps over his waist down to nearly his knees and almost never moves more than 3 or 4 yards during a 10 second down really an athlete?

The term athlete is highly subjective and often varies in the eye of the beholder.

It's hilarious for you to assume you are the authority on the definition of an athlete.

I love watching linemen run...but when they score,
the whole world scores with them!

I think people take these things WAYYYY too seriously.

Its just a game, and its just one persons opinion.

Feel free to disagree, I'm perfectly fine with that. 04-cheers

Stating that a driver is not an athlete is a matter of opinion and I have no issue with that.

Saying it is "hilarious" if they think otherwise intimates that if someone doesn't agree with you, they are wrong. I expect better of you.

I will put someone like Carl Edwards up against you in any sport you want to play and he will wipe the floor with you.

Castroneves would embarrass you with the way he would dominate you. How many ironman have you completed?????

Jenson Button triathlon here in Tennessee..

Dixon and Kanaan half triathlon.

The individual can be athletic the "sport" however is not
