RE: CUSA Best Win/Worst Loss: Week 1

Marshall & UAB both basically must win games for 2 programs that did not play football last season. Would hate to think about UAB losing this game in front of 44k and what it would mean for them. Marshall win was just as important for different reasons. CUSA needs a health Marshall program . A win can be a jump start to getting Marshall back to just that.
Worse Loss:
Middle for about the same reason as Marshall's win. When your fanbase thinks you have a outside shoot at a NY6 game and you get stomped at home. It bad for CUSA. We have to win these games for the CUSA champion to be in the pictures for a NY6 bowl. For those same reasons...Western's loss to Vandy last year was one of the worse in CUSA. S. Miss loss to uk at home would have been 2nd worse for the same reasons.
All the other losses were expected and score does not really matter...bottom is not as important if you are strong at the top. A strong top 5 to 6 is needed every year. If I was doing a power ranking it would be different but this should be what win and what loss helps and hurts the conference the most.
Yeah, when you get mid to lower tier P5s at home, it is a must to capitalize on those games. Especially when considered top tier of the conference you play in.

Why would Marshall's win be described as surprising? Vegas ended the week with the Herd as a slight favorite, and virtually everyone was saying that Marshall had them out-talented... it would have been slightly more surprising if Marshall started the year letting his one slip at home or if we should similar distinction already symptoms as last year.
It's simple. Because Marshall sucked last year. That's why it was a surprise. It was good to see Marshall performing well again.
Hey, don't ask the question unless you want an honest answer.

I think most Marshall fans would agree with you on that. Even on our own boards we didn't know if any improvement with the team or how much to expect etc. Many predicted a loss..... We had ALOT of first time MU players play Saturday, last year humbled a lot of the veterans, it was easy to see when you looked at the sideline and you actually saw a team and not the care free crap that was displayed last year. Team has a bright future if they keep things in check. Miami is no joke btw, their QB is a good one and definitely some good receivers. Their D was pretty good as well, look for that team to do well in the MAC.

We saw the same tendencies that lead to 3-9..... No offensive variety or success, trying to sit on a 2 possession lead in the 3rd quarter, can't get off the field on 3rd or 4th down on defense.
We were LUCKY to win that game. 2 KO returns and a pick 6 don't happen very often for a team in a season, and we got it in one game and it went down to the last play. Being honest with ourselves, we probably should have lost to Miami Oh by 2 to 3 tds.
I am in raleigh, in a very cautiously optimistic mood. Maybe, just maybe, Doc can coach a football team. This is his chance to win back 10 thousand fans for next week at home.
