I'll have to take a look at the replay of the game to see how they were doing it, but it appeared ETSU made a decision to sell out to stop the run and play single coverage against the pass. Many teams (notably New Hampshire) did the same thing last year, and Schor made them pay, same as this year.

they packed 8-9 in the box, and Schor passed at will.
The rund D was not stout. They just picked their poison.

I agree that etsu did a good job defending the run, but it was because they were overcommitted to stacking the box. Schor made them pay dearly in the secondary for it.

Yup, and 2004's post below. Picked their poison, as any Coach would do and decide which part of the O do we try to limit? This case, the same guys that made the AAC team, at home, look frankly silly. Got them awarded a helmet sticker on msespn.
I'd done the same thing, make "them" beat us with the pass. Uhhhhh, oooops. They can do that too.
Very impressed with the O'line especially, but Hyman, Miller and the receiving corp in general.
This team is flat- stacked (and jacked)

I look forward to having Kloosterman back next week to enhance the passing game and our run blocking (I assume he's health now?)

Alls, Hereford, Bethea, Edwards should all be available for UD.
UD looks to have an improved defense, and if they can get a workable offense, could be a "trap" game. They will likely improve each week, and will be hungry to win this game at home. I don't think they will win, but it could be a dogfight.

ETSU did what every defense did to JMU during the Mickey years. The difference was that JMU did not run a QB straight into the stacked box every play anyway.

MM used his favorite play to fend off stacking the box. Have a receiver line up at one sideline, run as fast as possible to the other sideline taking the ball as he passes by the QB. Never intended to gain any yards only used to spread the field for future plays.
