OK - just so I know where you stand.

sure, I'll explain it...BYU has great sports teams but their bats**t crazy rules and beliefs make them a pain in the butt for any and all conferences to deal with.

Liberty is the same...just minus the athletics history and tradition.

BYU has an honor code and other odd rules, but they are INTERNAL rules. They don't go and try to enforce those on other people.

I'm okay with BYU. I would hope that we improve enough to make a real run at adding them.

Byu's internal code is external, they don't play on sundays is the most obvious. But the one that makes the real difference is the requirment of mission trips. The extra year and redshirt year are a huge deal for their program.

No to liberty, right now they're just a flash in the pan, that may change. They may also have some title IX issues (which aren't just about sports).

I am for adding BYU and Army in an alliance where they get some bowl opportunities and they come in to the tv contract. 4 games would work well, byu 3 vs west 1 vs east, army 3 vs east 1 vs west.
BYU is not a for profit diploma mill

I'm not shocked that a televangelist family managed to build up a bunch of money.
Do you really wanna delve into the theological doctrines of the religious schools.

Good luck with that. I'm bowing out.

no way, no how...nobody wants to put up with that BS.

Maybe we should send in the KGB and move them to reeducation camps

Or

We can let them believe what they wanna believe.

I'd take BYU all day long and Aresco would expand if they ever wanted to join. For Liberty, they need to play c-usa/sunbelt level for 5-10 years. If they can draw mid 30's, then maybe.

Nothing wrong being a religious school. The Big East has done ok with it.

If the people who keep reporting this actually invesrigated how university endowments are calculate they would see the impossibility of Liberty having a $1B endowment twenty years after being nearly bankrupt.

http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2009...22.40.html

Quote:In the early 1990s, Liberty University (LU) had sunk into a $110 million debt, been placed on academic probation, and was tottering on the verge of bankruptcy. Its workaholic founder Jerry Falwell, somehow managing to divide his time between roles as school chancellor, megachurch pastor, and national politics mouthpiece, faced the possibility of forfeiting his dream of training up "Champions for Christ."

What? None of this sentence made any sense at all?

Last I checked...

...No one is being replaced, and if any were it'd be ECU (who haven't chimed in)
...So far, Tulane, Memphis, UCF, and Houston fans have all spoken out AGAINST A liberty addition.

Always fun to see the open-minded and tolerant thoughts from the left. Murderous totalitarians from various eras of history must be so proud.
