Just imagine. It's the season opener for the 2019 season. The stands are PACKED with a fan base that has made up excuses for years that the game times / game days / opponents for the last 5 years haven't met their expectations.

Why is the stadium FULL you might ask? It's the dawn of a new era. The NIU Huskies have finally moved on from the dark ages of ROD and have found a new head coach.

Good riddance Rod Carey.

One can dream, right? That being said, if we're fortunate enough to part ways, who's our next head coach?

He could have been off the hot seat somewhat if he had pulled the BC game out. Or if he had said we were looking to the future and playing one of the younger guys.

This isn't the NFL! You do not say we're playing a young guy because we're looking to the future. Carey is starting Graham because he feels he gives the team the best chance of winning. I don't think that's going to happen often this year but that's why Carey is playing him.

We need to see Childers out there, maybe Santa, but Childers really needs a look.

Nobody is gonna fill the stands just because we have a new coach. It'll take a slew of winning streaks and some big wins against good opponents to do that.

Joe Moorhead. Head coaching experience, helms an explosive offense at a Big Ten school, still fairly young. He seems like a great candidate to put in his two or three years at NIU before moving on to greener pastures. I would love to hear his name announced as our new coach. He could invigorate our program and bring life to this listless offense.

We need to get used to Carey as coach and Graham as QB. Neither are going anywhere. Carey loves Graham, and NIU does not have the money - and STF is unwilling - to fire Carey.

Does Carey's contract stipulate that he remain as HEAD coach? Could he be "reassigned" to special teams coach (hopefully he will walk), then promote Lynch to head coach.

I believe he already is the special teams coach. If not we don't have one.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
